In the past two months two games of old got remade and release - RoTT and one with an Asian Warrior flavor.

Gud gawd...THIS is how you do a remake.
This is the epitome of - all I want is the original game with updates that acknowledge hardware advances.
This IS RoTT.

I am giggling. I am thinking, "Yeah, I remember that!" I am enjoying having my ass handed to me time after time. Even with the Unreal engine.

Even if you don't invoke the classic mode, the music is fun, the levels look like the original only better, it is the same game - THAT'S a compliment.
A proper remake - not an attempt at reimagining the original. This is a game in which it was said - the original was good enough, let's just really update the hardware implementation.

The other game seeks to reinvent what was good in 1997 and fails miserably.

Bravo RoTT, bravo.
I agree. While Shadow Warrior isn't a bad game and has an "old-school" feeling, I think that RotT is a much better remake. The only "Shadow Warrior" about the remake is the name.

No bowing down to political correctness in ROTT that's for sure.
ROTT 2013 is in fact awesome.
Shadow Warrior 2013 is also awesome.
I get a nice, warm old-school vibe from both games, and they've made me very happy in these times when not much can make me happy.

Good lord, now I'm finding myself praying for more of these kinds of games.
A new "Realms Of The Haunting" perhaps?
I also thought the settings in "Witchaven" and "Fortress Of Dr. Radiaki" could be used to good effect with a modern engine. Sure, those last 2 games I mentioned were not that good, but I bought them because the stories and settings intrigued me.
