Any word or news if this is actually playable yet? I've installed this on several different systems and every single one had the mouse issue. Invisible cursor and being unable to find a solution anywhere, any tips for getting this in working order?

I can confirm that the game is playable. I finished it not too long ago.

For whatever reason, it the default installation works fine with visible mouse cursor, but if you've played around with the launcher, then the settings tend to reset.

Well there are 3 fixes for the cursor, from what I've encountered:
1) Play the game is software mode (default). From the launcher, select the "Force Software Rendering" option. You can also edit the "revenant.ini" file and force the software rendering mode ("Software3D=Yes"). Or you can try repairing the game installation.
2) Disable "Fast Surface Locks" from the launcher. This will work the first time, but restarting the game will reset these options. A better way would be to create a shortcut and add the "FASTLOCK=OFF" option at the end of the launch command.
3) Use an Direct 3D wrapper, like dgVodoo. A good tutorial can be found on the game's forum entitled "HOW-TO Make the Revenant run in D3D" by GreatDragona (can't post links at the moment). I would also recommend disabling the compatibility mode for the game, if trying this option.

I used the 3rd option, as I generally like to get the most of my old games. Game worked fine. Mouse and gamepad worked fine. All options were tested on a Windows 8.1 x64 machine.
