Just really quickly, I bought the bundle excited to try RE2, only to find out it CTDs after pressing new game, after the initial cutscene. Music also seems to not be playing.

Before the main menu, the videos play just fine. After those opening logos, the menu has no sound, no Resident Evil voice on new game start and the intro video has no music, only narration. After that, CTD.

Any solutions?

I had a very similar - but subtly different - problem, where the game would crash to desktop after the content warning at the beginning.

The thing which worked for me was downloading the "Resident Evil 2 Classic REbirth" mod. I'm not sure whether or not I'm allowed to link to it here, but it's very easy to find with a search engine.

It's a "direct draw" (?) DLL which replaces the default one in the game's folder (it's probably best to make a backup of the old one - just change the file name of the old one [I just retitled it "OLDddraw.."] - before copying in the new DLL).

Anyway, with this and using the "ClaireU" and/or "LeonU" exe files in the game's folder, I could get the game to run. It only seemed to run in a small 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 window and I noticed some mild visual glitching in the cutscenes before the main menu but it actually runs! It isn't perfect, but it runs.

[Edit: When you start up the game with "Classic REbirth", it might show an error message about an unknown version or something like that. Just click "ok" and the game will still launch and run....]

I don't know if this will work for your version of the game or not, but it might be useful.
