I just tested it, in Windows Xp virtual machine, it just works without patch in D3D mod, in Windows 7 i got enough memory problem.
I had similar problem with vampire bloodlines and here some binary file needed to be changed.

Do someone know if its about video or ram memory?

I have 32 GB RAM and 2 GB VRAM, maybe some integer, long limit was overreached..

Win 10, 8GB RAM, i5 4690 and R9 290 here.
Got the game running via the clean boot method, which is pretty unconvenient though.

Found some hints here:

None of them worked for me to get the game working without clean booting.
Ok, I need to check tomorrow again but it might be fixed by shutting down the raptor gaming app introduced by AMD graphic drivers.
I finally figured out the issue for me. Afterburner is incompatible with this game. I only use it for monitoring fps and temps. Once I close afterburner, then the memory issue goes away. If you are running AB or something similar, I suggest closing it.

Kill Rapter helped me, other similar App which could be problematic is NZXT CAM.
Hi, just wanted to add what is working for me, I suppose people already know but i went here (won't let me post link but i will try, just add . in the place of - including between viewtopic and php) www-vogons-org/viewtopic-php?f=8&t=45658#p458657 and i downloaded the patch, put it in my Requiem executable folder and ran it, then I changed the shortcut from "C:\GOG Games\Requiem - Avenging Angel\3DFX.exe" to "C:\GOG Games\Requiem - Avenging Angel\D3D.exe" I still got the "Not Enough Memory" but just persisted and tried to run it 2 or 3 times, works every time. Just keep trying to run the D3D.exe until it works. This is working for me every time. My Config.exe is also set to Direct3d not 3DFX.

Thank You!
I managed to get it to work using your method. The only additional thing for me, is that I need to start Config every time, before launching the D3D.EXE or else the Not Enough Memory error comes
Also wanted to add, that once the game started, I had trouble changing the screen resolution, because every time I opened the drop down menu, once I moved the mouse cursor, it just closed. I have managed to change it, by clicking the drop down menu, until it somehow stayed open. I saved the configuration, but don't know whic file it is.
didn't help any method to run on Surface Pro 2 (i5-4200, intel graphics 4000)
I have tried the lot. Clean boot, D3D and 3DFX.

D3D worked but couldn't change the settings as the menu's were painfully slow and the cursor/keys didn't respond as expected (mouse vs icon placement didn't align and keys couldn't select some of the options).

Spent way too much time on this one. Moving on.

MSI GE72VR 7RF
RIVATUNER stops the game. It gives the out of memory.

It stops a few old games I have.
