Hey, so i bought the game yesterday via gog.com and installed via gog galaxy.

However the game will not launch - nothing happens when i tried to launch via gog galaxy or using the .exe.

Tried on 2 computers running windows 10 64bit and same problem.

Says version is #163 in gog galaxy - anyone else having similar issues?

I have already tried to contact both gog support and abbeygames support but no response so far.
Same problem on my machine (Windows 8.1): Game downloaded from library, installed, started -> immediate crash.

I then installed GOG Galaxy, although I really don't want to use that (yet). Installed the game inside Galaxy and everything seems to be fine. Also the non-galaxy version was suddenly fixed and started without any problems (so I could remove the Galaxy version again)...
I may be close to solving this.
What graphic card do you have and what's the driver version?

somehow i doubt graphic card has anything to do with this - i tried on both Surface Pro 3 and a desktop with Geforce GTX 550ti and the game would not run

BUT when i got the game via steam i runs perfectly on both machines
I have this exact problem too ( also using windows 8.1 - 64bit )

the game is outright refusing to run, no matter what I do .. nothing happens what-so-ever when I click the "play" button.
contacted GOG technical support yesterday and I haven't heard back from them either, apart from the automatic server-response, stating that the support-ticket had been received

@Bolza; if it's any help to you, I can throw in my graphics card details too:
AMD Radeon R7 200 Series, with 2GB of dedicated video-memory .. as for the driver-version; 15.200.1062.1004 from the 3rd of August - 2015

Ok this is strange, if the problem is present even with radeon it's clearly something different from the 3dcard.
I magically solved the problem but i'm not sure how so i'll post here the steps i took hoping these could be helpful.

First i un-installed the VCredist 2013, 2012, 2011.
Then windows7 realized that i had to download a new upgrade that turned out to be the SP1 (i always had auto-update disabled until some days ago).
Then i rolled back the NVIDIA drivers (from 355.82 to 347.88 ) and reset the settings.
I un-installed the game, closed Galaxy, reinstalled with the downloaded exe installer (while galaxy was still installed on the system).
And is now working... even inside the Galaxy client.

tried to follow in your footsteps, but unfortunately, it changed nothing for me; my game is still refusing to run .. looks like it's up to GOG to fix their stuff :P
The game works fine on my desktop but doesn't launch on my laptop. Using GOG Galaxy on both, have tried verifying the files, uninstalling and re-installing, I click Play and nothing happens.
just got contacted by the technical support, and they asked me to go grab 4 exe files (vcredist_x64, and vcredist_x86 - both of those from each link)
www (dot) microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784
www (dot) microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679

if anyone is using a 32bit windows, they'll probably only need the x86 ones

download those, and click " REPAIR " not uninstall, and it should work just fine .. at least it worked for me :D
