When I try to run the game (launched via Galaxy) it crashes and asks to enter the App ID into the steam_appid.txt or use the launcher...

Weird.

How to fix that?

My suggestion is to contact GOG support if you have not already.

They are usually very quick to reply when it is a technical issue.

Unfortunately it's very hard to get an answer on weekends. You usually have to wait until monday to get an answer from the tech service.

I sent a ticket on Friday for another game and got the answer today.
Maybe they're looking into your problem and will only give an answer when they have a solution.

Try to download the offline installer and install it without Galaxy and start it also without Galaxy.
I never use Galaxy and RoR works just fine on my laptop.
