Well, I downloaded the new Redneck Rampage installer, uninstalled the game, reinstalled it with the new installer, and I still don't have any music. (and I checked the sound settings to make sure) Was/is there something else I need/ed to do or did the download screw up somewhere?
Have you checked the 8-tracks player in the Sounds options?
If yes and there's no sound, do you have huge files in your RR folders, called REDNECK.gog & RRRAGAIN.gog ? These are the Image files where the soundtrack should be.
Sorry to bump such a old topic but i'm having the exact same issue, I have both REDNECK.gog and RRRAGAIN.gog but get no music at all. The game won't let me select 8-track in the game, it appears then vanishes again straight away.

Edit: Nvm, it seems that I had to launch and enable 8-track from Rides Again (in game) before it decided to work in the original RR.

Bought this yesterday and I have the sound working. You need to start a single player game, esc, go to sound hit enter, go to 8 track. For some reason you can't go into sound setup from the inital main menu; it just boots you out untill you actually START a game.

BUT, I'm having a common problem with the music volume. There was a note on here from a few years ago about editing a conf file but it was a little vague. There are 4 or 5 conf files that match the description. Should I edit them all? Thanks
Okay, I found the right file.

Normally I just turn the music off but thats Mojo Nixon man!

I ended up setting the CD volume to something like 5. There's so few tracks that I kept hearing the same thing over and over.
