While I have no real issues running the game in DosBox, everytime I quit from the main menu, it freezes with the "Quit Y/N" message still on screen. The only way to proceed is closing the DosBox window.
Has anybody been experiencing this as well?
I'm running it under Windows Vista Home 32 bit
I didn't have that, but it might be handy to know that ctrl-f9 should kill dosbox instantly
You have to press Y three times to exit the game properly. Yeah that's weird. :>
Thanks for the help!
I don't think I would have thought of that myself... Maybe it's because rednecks are supposed to be that slow so you got to tell 'em three times over?

Ahah yeah, that's probably why :D
Hey that actually works! Thanks!
I have this game installed from CDs in DOSBox, and with the Route 66 add-on, it does a strange thing. When you run the route66.exe, it renames some of the original Rampage files (game.con, demo#.dmo, etc) as .bak files, then renames the R66 files to take their place. On game exit, it renames them back.
If you don't exit Route66 properly, the next time you try to play regular Rampage, it'll be Route66 anyways because the game never got the chance to do it's rename on exit.

The GOG version is safe from that, but it is a problem with the original copy indeed
i had the same prob (VISTA & 7) i fixed it by running admin or disabling UAC on vista and/or lowering UAC setting in windows 7 + Tweaking DOSbox worked also
