hey,

i have recently downloaded the red baron package. when playing a campaign in rb3d, it is absolutely impossible to control my aircraft. (i have no joystick, i am using my keyboard).

even more if i dont touch anything after take-off, my plane is flying in circles alway to the left. well, i thought perhaps it s my mistake and pressed ctrl+a for the autopilot but it stays the same and this autopilot crashes my aircraft! plus, the reactions of the aircraft are very delayed and slow. no fun!

would be great if u had any suggestions, balth

Red Baron? or Red Baron 3D?

I would suggest getting a JS, even a cheap $20 would be better then a keyboard. Only thing I have ever been able to fly in RB3D with a keyboard was the Fokker EIII's and Morane Bullets, and then only to bomb. Dog fighting was completely out of the question.

Seems your planes are flying to slow instead of too fast, go to the game folder and find the program setspeed.exe. set it to 100% and try it out, and then keep playing with the settings until it seems controllable.

You do not state what type of computer system you have, it would help to know if you have a newer, powerful rig or an older, slower system.

What are your Frames per Seconds (FPS)?? you can either use FRAPs or in game by pressing alt+F. Please state if you got your FPS in game or by using FRAPs. Reason is the ingame FPS for me gives the game a heavier hit of about 10 FPS then FRAPs does.

Something simple you might try - hit "A" to release auto pilot (AP), not "alt A". Sometimes the game just puts itself into autopilot (often when landing) and if you put it in AP at takeoff, especially if you cancel then reapply it, the plane flies in slow spiral to the ground. Nothing lost if it doesn't work. I've never got a satisfactory answer at why this sometimes happens. Also, is your keyboard otherwise working? The same happens if it is not working - my JS was unplugged and I took off into the ground :).
Shift + A is level flight auto pilot .. Control + A is a circling autopilot

The twisting to left ( on most planes ) is torque effect, difficult to control with a keyboard

You might want to choose Intermediate flight model as well, effects are less pronounced
Actually:

In Single Player:

Shift+A = straight level flight

Ctrl+A = Full autopilot

Alt+A = Waypoint navigation, you will fly from waypoint to waypoint, but will not engage the enemy nor land.

A = Cancel Auto Pilot

In Multi Player:

Shift+A = straight level flight

Ctrl+A = does nothing at all

Alt+A = Circling autopilot (to the right/clockwise)

A = Cancel Auto Pilot
