Hey all --
I played Red Baron 3D when it was out on CD and I'm enjoying the opportunity to do so again.
I've never understood if the mission's score means anything. Do they add up? Do you trigger medals if you meet some score requirement? Or are they just for your edification?
I've got a German pilot flying with Jasta 2 in Flanders in autumn, 1916. I got the Iron Cross, 2nd Class, for my first kill, and since then the Albatross D.II has been increasingly rare. I had to fly several missions in a Halb. D.II and then try to survive fighting N.11s, N.17s and Spad VIIs in an E.III (rage!). I gave in and turned off vulnerability. When I hit November, 1916 suddenly the E.IIIs were no longer deployed and I happened to get 6 kills in a Halb. D.II flying against a mess of D.H.2s. I now have about 16 kills and the Kaiser hasn't awarded me the Pour le Merite -- I thought that came at 8 kills.
You have a better chance of transferring when you request one if you have a high score. When there is a court of inquiry, you have a good chance of getting a warning if you have a high score, and being executed if you have a low score. It also effects some medals and your promotions.
