I can't seem to get the dial puzzle working correctly (I got all the other ones somehow), despite following the various walkthrough instructions. Can somebody do me a solid and help me figure out how to get past it? I'd certainly appreciate it. Oddly frustrating; I never hear the evil laugh or see the monster I'm evidently suppose to.

Here's a save file starting in the entrance to the checkerboard puzzle (though that and all the other puzzles have already been done). I assume the file will work if you simply rename the extension to ".SAV".

Thanks.

I wanted to help you, but I seem to have deleted the shortcut to the game, and I can't work the DosBox manually, nothing works. So I can't even start the game; tells me it won't run in my Windows.

Well, thanks for trying anyway. I don't know what all you know about DOSBox but all my non-GOG DOS games I've been able to run with http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Basic_Setup_and_Installation_of_DosBox#Running_a_game (I assume you don't have the GOG version?)
Dear tfishell,
alas I was unable to access the save file you provided. I did rename it to SAVE1.SAV, though the file has not been registered properly in the game menu. Could you try and provide a proper .SAV file instead, please? As another option, I uploaded an alternate save game set after having completed the dial puzzle just before fighting Pyrichiel, in case you're willing to accept that little cheat to continue your journey through the Realms of the Haunting, that is.

Kind regards!
Jessica
This puzzle is insane.
Insanely clever.
Considering the point where you came out (facing the checkers puzzle), there are, clockwise, 7 more puzzles:
- stepping stones
- shooting mirrors
- big guns
- the gems
- the small mirror maze (the one controlled by the 6-hand-panel)
- floating balls
- the large mirror maze

The whole point is to dial everything to 5, which is the south-most position of the dial, because everything else you dialed to six o'clock, right?
Every increment of a puzzle-dial influences another one by also incrementing it by one following this rule:
- the checkers puts one to the shooting mirrors
- the the shooting mirrors puts one to the big guns
- the big guns puts one to floating balls
- the floating balls puts one to stepping stones
- the stepping stones puts one to the small mirror maze
- the small mirror maze puts one to the large mirror maze
- the large mirror maze puts one to the gems
- the gems puts one to the checkers

So it doesn't matter if you already switched the dials to an unknown position. Only that you choose one which you like, e.g. the checkers one, and dial until you have it at 5, then do the same for the shooting mirrors one, then for the big guns one, etc.
