Hi all,

We are pleased to announce that all three of the Realms of Arkania games (PC for now, Mac versions will be made available ASAP :) ) are now available in German. Please check your game shelves for the new drop down menu where you can select between the English and German version.

Vielen Dank! :)

Nergal01: No, no, no, no, WE have to thank YOU guys! Major thumbs up! :D
Please share the good news :)

Have fun :)

borsook: There is one curious thing - why is the German installer 3 times as big as the English one?
Because it's the German CD versions of the games. Unfortunately, the Engliash version never got the same treatment the German versions did.

RS1978: Im Hauptverzeichnis von REALMS OF ARKANIA 1 (der Name, brrr!) findest du zwei PDF-Dateien namens "manual" und "passcodes"; beide enthalten die vollständigen Passworttabellen.
Oh c'mon, out of courtesy I included original names in installers / desktop shortcuts. No other language version on GOG gets that :P

RS1978: Thanks again for this fantastic update!

But I have two questions:

First, there's a gamebreaking bug just before the final battle in the original version of ROA 3. There exists a patch for this issue, but it seems to be incomaptible with DOSBox. The last German DOSBox release used a special freeware tool (JEMM) to circumvent this issue. I've tried a save game for the certain situation and it seems the bug is still there in the GOG version.

Second, there was an additional patch which included an online cluebook for ROA 3. All available German releases are patched with this very useful official tool, that allows you to consult detailed ingame maps and hints with the shortcut ALT+H. Any chance we will see this in the GOG release? I could send you the data.

EDIT: According to the German README in the GOG game directory of ROA 3 the hint book should be integrated in this version, but it seems not to be installed properly.
Hi RS :)

Glad you're enjoying the update and thanks for the feedback. Your best bet would be to go through the official channels, mainly Support, regarding any patches or bugs found within the game :)

RS1978: I will do so, thanks for your reply. :)
You're welcome :)

Also, we aren't done adding languages but only time will tell when and which ones we add so keep an eye on your games :)

RS1978: Please don't, I love this unique element of surprise! (Oh, there were many great unexpected updates here on GOG: the talkie versions of MM4+5, the expansions for the Wing Commander series, the German language versions of the Gothic series, Book of Unwritten Tales and now Realms of Arcania. And I have to admit it now: I love your new circular game icons, they look all very handsome on my desktop, much better than the older ones.) :)
So no love for the Windows version of Lords of the Realm 1 being added, what, a couple of days ago? I guess someone's content with conquering only England and Wales :P

Or the Windows version of Pro Pinball Timeshock? :P

RS1978: I'm afraid these are not part of my game library here on GOG, but you know all your effort is highly appreciated. :)

(By the way: What's about with the much better looking windows version of Phantasmagoria 2? I was able to play the German CD version with a fan made patch very well on my Windows 64 bit PC. Okay, the game's crap, but anyway...)

Apropos: It's always very nice to see how excited you're about your own updates. This is what I call real enthusiasm for business. :p
With Phantasmagoria I recommend doing what I recommended earlier in this very thread :P

I am always excited about our updates/upgrades as I like having all those rare, hard-to-find editions of games available to all for a decent price. The way I figure it, this also helps preserve the games for a lot longer and prevents folks from having to spend tons of Euros/dollars on second hand eBay sales :)

I am also exited that we got to release the Brazilian Portuguese version of Dragon Lore. We got the CDs and manual straight out of Brazil, so that's another feather in our cap :D

RS1978: Yes, I've read this in another thread and was very impressed about GOG's efforts to buy it from a Brazilian internet store. I don't understand a single word of Brazilian Portuguese, but it's just great to see a game with all its language versions here. In my opinion the release history of a game is only completed if it finally appears in GOG's catalogue. I see you not only as merchants, but as curators. (And I hope there will be more AAA titles in future.) :)
Here's a hint:

We don't understand a word of Brazilian Portuguese either but with the help of Google Chrome's built-in translator and the right attitude when writing in English on a Brazilian store, one can go a long way :)

Plainly put, it never hurts to ask but make sure to ask nicely :)

Anyways, enough of my bragging :D

HiPhish: There is no music in the first game. I can't even select a music card in the sound setup, only a sound card for the bleep effects. The second game is fine.
Please send a message to Support about this, please, if you don't mind :)

derboo: Realms of Arkania 1+2 is marked as updated again today. What's been changed?
Mac OS X German version had some music issues fixed :)

Retroreku: Very cool! I have got a question, wouldn´t it be a good idea to include the german versions of the manual as well? Because at least Realms of Arkania 1 asks copy-protection questions related to the manual...
You should see those in the Start menu for the game after you install a given game in the series :)
