MrPuff36: Just recently reinstalled the game after upgrading to Windows 11 from 10. I installed some softwares to make the game run on widescreen and I was able to get into the main menu, but once I start the campaign, the game crashes during the loading screen. Please, any idea what's causing it and how to fix it?
I seemed to fix incorrect registry bugs when installed to: C:\Program Files\RedStormEntertainment\Tom Clancys Rainbow Six
For loading screen bugs caused by software mode being enabled, I think. I ran both the installer and game in WinXP SP2 compatability mode, and to solve game loading errors used dgvoodoo wrapper and its 32-bit glide files. I still haven't finished the first level but can see a hostage on recruit to rescue. Have also played training levels. It crashes for me on Multiplayer .
I think it should be installed to: C:\Program Files\Red Storm Entertainment\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six
If you try searching for Rainbow Six with 1998 after it you should be able to find info on the classic game and not siege. Had also used the ddraw.dll patch on github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat/releases/download/v0.6.0]
https://github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat/releases/download/v0.6.0 You may also need to apply a registry path in Windows, see forums
Also before re-install is
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Red Storm Entertainment\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six] deleted to start over installing correct settings if needed?
Other options: Turn fog off
after in game menu was able to change resolutions to 1024x768 but had crashes before, maybe turn max sounds off.
