Hi guys,

Maybe I'm asking about a game too old, but I have a problem with Railroad Tycoon Deluxe. In the manual I could find an explanation about how to lay down diagonal tracks, doubled tracks and switches. However, I didn't manage to build them.

I checked the controls mentioned in the manual and I believe it was as follows:

- Diagonal track: Diagonal track should be built with the numeric keypads, so with the numbers 7, 9, 1 and 3. However, when I use them, the construction box moves, but the track is not built. When I use the normal arrow keys, everything works fine, but then I have no diagonal possibilities whatsoever, of course. This also means I can't build switches.

- Double track: Double track should be built when I use the 'D'-key, but when I press D and try to use the arrow keys simultaneously, there is no doubled track, but the 'Display' menu opens and 'Detail display is selected'. This means I cannot build double tracks.

How can I solve this? The game does not give me any chance to change the keys used for the game because there is no options menu. Is it my keyboard's fault? I hope I can get some useful advice here.

IIRC, you have to hold down Shift Key to build track or double track
Unfortunately the handling of the arrow- and keypad keys is not the same as it was decades ago.
There seems to be a pemanent caps lock enabled hindering the scrolling of the map with the arrow keys because using an arrow key lays track all the time.
This is such a pity because this makes handling of the game/building tracks an incredible nuisance making the game practically unplayable (for me).
It's a shame.

EDIT: The Numlock key seems to be doing the trick! It switches beween "building" and "moving" using the keypad arrows!
