Is it possible to increase the resolution in windowed mode to 1024x768 or higher? In RT3, I only see 640x480 and 800x600 as available windowed options. I checked the RT3 .cfg files, but they were not in a normal format that could be edited. Is there any other way to fix this for Win7?

I can get resolutions above 1024x768 in windowed mode. Windowed mode resolution allows the second highest level that my graphics solution can handle. Is this true for you also?

The wsgf site has info about how to hack the engine.cfg file with a hex editor. It prebiously had a small program that makes the process pretty easy. At this time the links are down. Made to allow proper widescreen operation, it may work for windowed mode. One drawback is that going to fullscreen mode changes the resolution to a known value. The Custom value of the hack is lost and must be applied next time it is desired. Also, be warned that Pcgamingwiki reports problems with mouse location if a higher windowed resolution is forced.

First, I fixed up some information on my previous post. I got a chance to try using the hacked resolution in Windows 7 windowed mode and it's working.

Because the links went bad I decided to do something different. Please note that I am not the author of this. I am sharing it because I don't know of a working source at this moment.

Unless you want to use the hex editor, search for a free program from the wsgf site called Universal Widescreen Patcher. Included with that download is a patches.ini file. Open it with Notepad. Delete everything. Copy everything below and paste it in that file. Save. Now run the patcher program. Usage should be pretty self-explanatory.
