Is it possible to play this game multiplayer over the internet? I tried creating a game but my friends couldn't see my game listed even when they entered in my IP address. We weren't using any third party programs, like Hamachi.. any idea if that would work?

Yes. You need a VPN like LogMeIn Hamachi. Once you're on the same network, you can join by IP using the multiplayer option from the main menus. I don't know what server does from main menu, but my brother and I played together.

I have been trying everything to be able to play this with my son and I cannot figure it out.

I have tried being on the same network, Hamachi, Googleing.... no success.

If anyone has some steps on how to multiplay this I would be greatful.
I also can't play with my sister. First question, is how to create server? Since everytime when we want to setup online game(LAN game over Hamachi), we need to input some IP address. I guess it's not necessary for server, as it has on his own machine. So now it's not clear who is creating a game(server) and who is connecting to the game(client).
Maybe there is some issue in network with Rage of Mages?
A little bit of progress in setuping multiplayer game(spoiler - still doesn't work).
So what I've done - firstly I didn't use any hamachi, just found out my global IP, and share it with my sis. Then I opened game, clicked on "Server" and entered my global IP. Then I opened new instance of the game and went to Network game, where I put again my global IP. On this time I managed to see one open game, and I joined it. My sister opened just one instance of the game(she is a client in this case), clicked on network game, and inputed my global IP. He also managed to see my open game. However when she tried to joined it, it showed some unknown error. I assume, it may be due to some closed ports on my local router. Does anybody know which ports RoM uses?

P.S. why I didn't use hamachi? I figure out that even if we have connection with my sis, and I can chat her, I can't ping her due to timeout. So I think it may be some issue with hamachi.

If you guys wanna try rage of mages mutliplayer I have found a website : allods2.eu
they administrate a server based on rage of mage 2 (which is basicly just an extansion of rage of mage 1, its pretty much the same game
And it works well !
I've been trying to go multiplayer on rage of mage since about 15 years, and thi website gaveme the solution, so go ahead and give it a try :)
just take the time to read the tutorial on how to play and it should be fine, just selet the same map and you guys are gonna play together
Hi Guys,

My brother and I are trying to play ROM 2 over GOG Galaxy. We are having trouble with the multiplayer connection. We are using LogMeIn Hamachi for VPN, but we cannot find each other's games.

Do you have any advice?

I figured it out. Using Hamachi, these are the steps I used. Might not need these exactly, but it works for me so I'm not messing with it:
- Run Hamahci
- Right click connected other people, then select Details
- Click Settings tab, and change traffic to Allow All
- Run RoM server (not multiplay)
- Set IP to 127.0.0.1
- Shift Click to run second instance of RoM for yourself
- Connect to the server using 127.0.0.1
- Other players should now be able to connect to the server

Also, this gets around the "Lose bag on death for host" bug (undocumented feature)

You should be able to host a tcp/ip game and have your friend join you via your public ip address. You will probably have to forward ports on your router to enable the connection.
