I found that the checking would not run. It seemed to pause and not progress - left it for > 10 mins.

Anybody else have this issue?

OT: GOG - please don't start supplying all the setup files in one big ZIP. It does not save any space and wastes my time having to extract the contents.

Are you saying the GOG download for this game is one big 5.7GB zip file?! :(

I like being able to download the 1.5 - 2 GB parts separately as my internet isn't the fastest, so being able to get bits at a time makes it easier to manage downloading over a few evenings. But one big zip means either a long continuous download or having to use the GOG downloader.

Yup, a small .exe setup file and four ~1.5GB .bin files are packed in a single .zip pack.

It's more convenient for me (and it was even when I had a rather slow, 2Mbps, internet connection), but your point is valid and there should be an option to download it as a single file or "the old-fashioned way". :)

Not had the problem myself, but I agree with others on the Zip - it was much better when we could download the bits in chunks at a time rather than one big download. Although the extra few minutes for it to extract at this end isn't that much of an issue, for me...I'm an old git, so have learned a little patience...

that piece of software is sh*t. Faster? without it i was around 1000 kb/s now i am between
250 - 600....well, i hope it won't stop like the first time i tried it with only 30 MB left.
Again, pls stop with files that big or give us a warning...before we purchase it.

No UAC active here - it's the first thing I disable on a new install. Please bear in mind I have bought, d/l and installed many GOG offerings, and this is the first time the integrity check itself has failed.

I did get the game myself (just been playing in fact, and finding out that I am completely rubbish at drifting, though finishing 2nd in my class in my first Le Mans 24 hour was good) and for me, I used the downloader to get the zip file, spread over two download sessions, getting about half the file each time.

Anyway, once unzipped, I ran the installer as admin, the UAC prompt kicked off, and then the options came up. I let it check integrity, that passed, then the game installed. Wasn't really watching the install time as I was watching TV whilst it was checking and installing, but I'd guess it was around 10-15 minutes total (not counting the zip extraction time).

Is it normal that the game needs admin rights ? Meaning UAC prompt on each run ?
I just wondered that the game does not say its signed by Codemasters in the prompt ????

Yes it is normal. In the past there have been a number of compatibility issues due to not installing games as administrator (typically when the old Program Files (x86) folder was being used for install location). Save game files often went 'missing' due to the game not being able to find them due to the protection modern Windows versions apply to Program Files.

It is always recommended to run GOG installers as administrator anyway. As for running the games themselves, well, it depends on where you've installed them and the game in question. I install to an unprotected folder (C:\Games\...) so most of the time I've not had to run as administrator, but there are certain games that have still needed it.
