Can anyone tell me exactly which houses you can loot? I am wondering if they are "Thief" specific... I am currently playing as the sorcerer, and have still been able to break into houses at night using magic... Thank you!

As far as I know, the following houses may be looted:

1) Brattle's cabin
- all characters should have little trouble getting in here.
- as far as I know, all characters should be able to loot the place clean.

2) Rayford's house
- All characters should be able to get in here without a problem if you wait till act 2.
- All characters should be able to get in here during act I, but it's slightly tougher.
- Thief has an easier time getting max loot though, which seems much harder for the other characters (though still possible if you persevere).

3) House near the bank
- Thief will tend to "find" more loot here.
- One of two places where you obtain the "loot bag". Only thief and sorcerer can actually sell this loot as far as I'm aware. The thief will get more cash for their loot, the sorceror less (but still worth it), the Brigand nothing (so only gets objects/cash he finds).
- As the Brigand you need to build up your skills a bit before you can even break in here, and since it's difficult to build the right skills up at all as the Brigand, it might be a while before you're able to get in at all. Coupled with the inability to sell loot, I'd say this joint is not worth it as the Brigand.

4) House near Smithy
- All characters should be able to get in here eventually, but again the Brigand takes some work. In this case a LOT of work. Sorceror takes a bit of work but should be fine eventually, thief shouldn't have many problems.
- As the second house with a "loot bag", again this makes it questionable whether you'd even bother as the Brigand.
- Again thief may get more loot, and will of course make more money from it.

5) The final one is a business and not a house as such. As far as I'm aware you can only get in as the thief - and anyone who's played a thief will know what I'm talking about, but I won't spoil it for you. I will say that it's MUCH easier than you'd expect. Although for some reason "loot" is alluded to in this place (a description says you get some), you don't appear to actually get the "loot" as such (as in you don't get anything extra to fence); however you probably won't care that much either. :)

Pretty sure that's it. There are other places to "break in" to (technically speaking), but they don't result in loot or goodies as such.
Yeah! Squid covered it well... those are the places.... for now...

For now?

Is this for the sequel or... the ultra-extra-bonus super-fantastic extended hyper edition? ;)

OK... If that means what I think it means... hell even if it means something else, it still means you guys are making more of the game and/or another game like it.

So in short - WOOHOO! ;)

By the way - with that "final place" I mentioned above - is it intentional that you don't get any "loot" to sell? Because the text description tells you that you obtain something that doesn't appear in your inventory - and one of the houses had similar "objects" that didn't appear, but that DID count as loot... Not that you need it at that point anyway, but for the sake of accuracy/completion it probably should be loot (or it shouldn't be mentioned).

Speaking of things which may be bugs: that hero guy you can pickpocket at the docks. If you succeed, you gain infamy, and the description says you get some coin (quite a sum, too) - yet when I check my inventory my coin count was the same (so I didn't actually get anything!).

Also at the docks, you can buy bracers from Marlin, but they don't appear in your inventory! Not that they'd be very useful anyway considering the money you can make anyway, but still felt like he was ripping me off...
