How does the hero lose the tinderbox when he's summoned to Mordavia and then get it back when he's summoned to Silmaria? Also, if you import your hero from game to game, but you never bought the tinderbox in QFG3 (I'm pretty sure you don't need to buy the tinderbox to beat QFG3) does he start QFG5 without it? If so, that would make the game difficult to win.
You also magically start with a number of drachmas in your inventory, even though at no point do you actually get to exchange money into drachmas.

This leads me to believe that Erasmus' summoning spell did one of two things.

1. It magically left behind items you wouldn't need while magically adding a starter pack as a gift from Erasmus to your inventory.

2. Some poor schmuck in Silmaria used a Mystic Magnet at the exact same time and is now wondering where his purse and tinderbox went, and why he suddenly has two dozen garlic & avocado sandwiches, a mess of coins from Mordavia, a mess of random jewelry, and several jars of healing potions, poison cure potions, and goo.

At the start of QFG4, the narrator states one of the burning questions:

What city did your luggage end up in this time?

Perhaps this wasn't simply a throw-away line; some of the hero's luggage in fact ended up in Silmaria.

That is a ridiculous, silly, outrageous and TOTALLY AWESOME answer. You win, my friend. I love this answer.

I loved that explanation at first as I would never have thought of it. Then I realized I had assumed the luggage ended up in the lost city in Fricana, that it just fell off of him when he was summoned. Because in QFG5, Rakeesh says that you left most of your equipment behind when you were summoned. I would think that would mean it was left in the lost city where the hero was when he was summoned. Then again, maybe Erasmus summoned the tinderbox to Silmaria at the same time he summoned you, so it ended up in your inventory that way.

Rakeesh specifically says that you had left behind most of your equipment in the Lost City. Presumably, he retrieved the tinderbox, took it to Silmaria, gave it to Erasmus, and told him to give it to you after you were summoned.

It was probably Erasmus who took your Mordavian currency and gave you your starting drachmas too.
