So, I downloaded the GOG Quest for Glory Pack. I thought that the second game was going to be the VGA version, but it is the EGA version. Is it possible to get a VGA version of Quest for Glory 2 somewhere?

Quest for Glory 2 VGA was a fan-made game, released by AGD Interactive. As it's a fan game, it's completely free, and available from their website.

Is it worth playing? I just want the ease of point and click controls.

It's pretty impressive work, and if you want the point & click I would definitely go for it.

They're big Sierra fans, and remade the first three King's Quest games too. Very talented folks, who are now making adventure games professionally.
Yes it is worth it. It is on the same level(if not better) as QFG1 VGA.
And AGDI added in some things that Lori and Corey Cole were forced to drop from the original for Sierra budget reasons. So there are little shops in the alleyways and a Used Saurus Repair Shop, too. It's a great remake. (I know it's there, but still haven't found the Used Saurus Repair Shop, though. Can anyone tell me where it is? I refuse to leave for Raseir until I find it!)

I found the Saurus Repair Shop in Shapeir, not Raseir. Just wandered around for a while until I found it, I think it must have been at a dead-end somewhere. (it was a while ago, so I can't quite remember!)

Thanks, Andy. I think it's only in Shapeir, but I haven't found it yet. I love that you can talk to all the random merchants in all the little side streets, though. And that they close up shop at night. Nice touch.

Only the Saurus repair shop was based on an idea by the Coles. The other shops are original ideas by agdi several part of the room decorating addition added to the game. Actually most of the new material in the game are original ideas by agdi. There is a reference or two based on what was potentialy a backstory the Coles had come up for the series tied to a novel series they were going to publish. But that had nothing to with stuff cut from the original game. Also there is new material that is pure fan fiction added to the game, that does not necessarily fit entirely with the details presented in the official series. These are "assumptions" made about the original game universe but were not verified by the Coles. Still worth playing to see the work AGDI put into it, though.

I'm a purist though. I play through the original version with the official character transfer patch, most of my plays through QFG2. Also because I like the simplicity of the older combat system over the new one. It's easier to level on the old one.

But I've been working in completing he agdi remake on different modes to see the new material for fun. But I probably won't play through it again after that.

The Saurus Repair Shop is at the end of Dambi Darb in the southwest corner of the city, just off the Tarik of Kattas. :)

Definitely better than QFG1 VGA. Superb work that looks like very professional job,
You can download the VGA Quest For Glory 2 for free on the AGD Interactive website (google AGD Interactive and you'll find it). They don't have it here because it's a fan company, not an official company.

It is worth getting. It is absolutely PHENOMENAL. The story is the same, but they improved the fighting system and they added a bunch of new Easter eggs. Definitely worth playing even if you've played the original a million times. AGD Interactive is a fantastic company at making games
