Hello everyone! :)
Glad to see a QFG community alive and kicking ^^

Super quick introduction : I've been working at Ubisoft for the past 12 years and I've been involved in the QFG5 french community for about 17 years now ^^

Back in 2017, I've put my knowledge into contribution and developed a tool (QFG5Patcher) that allows the player to enjoy QFG5 in different languages (subtitles).
I think it's now time to share this tool with GOG community in case some of you would rather play the game in another language :)

The currently supported language are :
- French
- English
- Spanish (fully translated by microweb with the help of Chyron. Thank you very much guys for your incredible contribution to QFG5 community! Your work is absolutely amazing! :)
- Portuguese
- German
- Russian
Hopefully with your help we can support even more languages! :)

Wait... Why am I mentioning about english considering GOG version of QFG5 is english?
Because the tool works for all types of installation (GOG, CD, etc.)
For instance, I personally own the official QFG5 french version on CD.

Note regarding the french and russian language :
The official french and russian version released about 20 years ago contained a recurrent crash in the chest room of the 5 villages, making it very hard to progress.
This was not impacting the english version, and has never been fixed officially :(
Good news folks!
This tool also takes care of fixing this crash
It will be applied automatically if you patch your game with french or russian language.

Note: if you already own the french (or russian) version like me, you should still patch the french/russian language to fix this recurrent crash.

Ceci est mon premier post ici, et apparemment ma réputation est trop basse pour pouvoir poster des URL. Ce sera donc un peu plus difficile pour vous d’accéder aux liens, je vous prie de m'en excuser :(

Présentation super rapide : Je travaille au sein d'Ubisoft depuis déjà 12 ans et je suis impliqué dans la communauté française de QFG5 depuis maintenant 17 ans ^^

En 2017, j'ai mis mes connaissances à contribution en développant un outil (QFG5Patcher) permettant au joueur de jouer À QFG5 en différentes langues (sous-titres)
Je pense qu'il est maintenant temps de partager cet outil avec la communauté GOG au cas où certains d'entre vous préféreraient jouer le jeu en une autre langue :)

Les langues actuellement prises en charge sont:
- Français
- Anglais
- Espagnol (traduit par microweb avec l'aide de Chyron. Merci beaucoup pour votre incroyable contribution à la communauté QFG5! Votre travail est absolument incroyable! :)

Et avec votre aide, nous pourrions supporter davantage de langues! :)

Attendez ... Pourquoi est-ce que je permet de patcher l'anglais alors que la version GOG de QFG5 est déjà en anglais?
Parce que l'outil fonctionne pour tout type d'installation (GOG, CD, etc.)
Par exemple, je possède personnellement la version française officielle sur CD QFG5.

Petite note concernant la langue française et russe:
La version officielle française et russe publiée il y a une vingtaine d'années contenait un crash récurrent dans la salle du coffre des 5 villages, rendant très difficile toute avancée.
Ce crash n'a jamais affecté la version anglaise et n'a jamais été corrigé officiellement :(

L'outil s'occupera également de corriger ce plantage récurrent.
Le correctif sera appliqué automatiquement si vous patchez votre jeu avec la langue française ou russe.
Remarque: si vous possédez déjà la version française (ou russe) comme moi, vous devriez tout de même patcher la langue française/russe afin de corriger ce plantage récurrent.

Thanks ubipred for this tool! Very helpful because i didn't have access to the french translation with the GOG version!
Your patcher also fixed the crash in the chest room (during the Rite of Freedom). I strongly recommand this tool for all QfG5 players!

Ton patch a également permis de corriger le crash dans la salle des coffres (pendant le Rite de Liberté). En bref, je recommande fortement cet outil à tous joueurs de QfG5 !

[Elsa and Magnum fixes]
- Fixes ALL known crashes & animation sequence getting stuck when playing as Elsa and Magnum (full game test required as some changes COULD be risky (Stream at your own risk!))
> Fixed all Ferrari house's instabilities
-> Fixed the animation stuck when using the grapnel (Fixes Ferrari house, Minos tree, and probably more locations)
-> Fixed the crash occurring when walking on ledge
-> Fixed the crash occurring when stepping down from ledge
-> Fixed the crash occurring when stepping up/down the table
> Fixed the crash occurring when getting drunk
> Fixed the crash occurring when sleeping and waking up in bed

[All characters fixes]
- Fixed a crash that was happening under specific circumstances whenever triggering an inland random encounter. This crash would then occur 100% as it 'attaches' to the savegame. This also fix cases where a random encounter sound would play without launching any random encounter
Note: Using a savegame provided to me, I was able to reproduce this issue and it is related to the algorithm determining which room to load for the random encounter.
Although I have no clue what caused the introduction of the bad data, I fixed it in a way where the game will load a specific random encounter room whenever there is bad data.
Luckily, after the fix ran once, the data's state returns to normal and the correct room will then load.

- Fixed the dragonlings sound crash occuring when performing the 'fire breathing' attack. This should also fix the dragon crash.
Note: The crash is actually caused by the sound, due to an issue directly related to the dragonlings 'firebreathing' attack and (very likely) the dragon as well:
The 2 distincts sounds the dragons makes when spitting out (fire?) is launched many many times instead of just once.
And that is also why the sound is cluttering so bad when they breath fire: the sound is being played 15+ times, overlapping itself
As a result from this fix, there will be no sound played on 'firebreathing' attack

- Fixed random crash occurring when using Thermonuclear spell in a populated area
- Fixed 'Glide' spell crash due to missing graphics (spell was cut from the game, but it is still accessible using a savegame editor)

- Activate Game's time speed modifier (to accelerate, slow down or even reverse the clock --> use at your own risks)
- Add a customization field to let the user define the maximum skill points limit. (default was 550 for Strength and Defense, and 500 for everything else)
