I wanted to point out that my biggest problem with this game was that there are only so many cells you can find & these cells work as your AMMO AND as LIVES. I found this to be quite annoying, since later in the game these cells are harder to find; and this game boils down to hours of trial & error, so loading to an earlier level just to hoard cells didn't sound like fun to me.

I am talking about when I use to play this on PlayStation 2. Did anyone else have this problem?
It would be nice if there was some way to fix the problem (like with a cheat code). But I just wanted to WARN people that may be buying & playing the game for the first time.
Nope, can't remember having this problem, but I played the CD-ROM version so with mouse aiming I probably didn't waste ammo a lot.
In the shortcut for the game, add "-cheat" (without quotes) to add a cheat menu. The menu will be located underneath the Objectives icon on your team menu, as a triangle with a exclamation point in it (I believe). You can then max out energy, add invulnerability, etc etc.

And as far as I know, in the PC version, you do not lose energy cells when a team member dies. I just tested it (poor, poor Carter) and my energy cell count did not decrease.

Cheers!
It's less a "problem" than it is your style of play. Sure, it's got that annoying Tomb Raider element where it takes a ton of shots to put down some enemies, but if you manage your shots, use the proper weapons and don't panic, it's all doable.

Also, dying in the game isn't really a problem, as all that happens is that character is zapped back to the last checkpoint and you get to try again. There's no GAME OVER screen here at all or boot back to a start screen, making this one of the more forgiving 3D games I've played. Also, those checkpoint restore any lost health when you're zapped back to them, last I recall.

That and there ARE cheat codes for the game (well, the PS2 version), but some of them ruin the experience by taking all the challenge out of the game. Well, other than the fly code that lets you zoom the camera around to find out that some background elements that look like they should be simple textures you'll never get close to are actually 3D shapes that add depth to those areas.
I did not have that problem. My coop buddies often did, as they didn't appreciate the game and would waste ammo in puerile protest of playing the game (since Friendly Fire doesn't seem to exist) :(

The only problem I've found pertaining to the guns is that, on PC, to damage an enemy you have to first be "locked on" to him: if you shoot the basic gun and "drag" the pulses over an enemy, without first targeting him, he will take no damage. I blamed the PS2 version for that, "autoaim" and all...
@GeeLW, but when you die -correct me if I'm wrong, but- I believe you lose a 'cell'. THIS is the problem I am referring to. It's not that I wasted ammo shooting. It's that I wasted cells by dying. If someone could verify -OR disprove- my claim, then that'd be great. I don't feel like playing this badly designed game again, personally.
You have rechargers scattered about pretty much everywhere in the game. In all levels apart fromt he last ones they are the oranges pads in the wall, in the last level they are blue. Just press and hold to recharge your ammo. You won't nee da single cell.
Later in the game you eveng et a weapon called the "extractor", where you can regain ammo through killing your enemies (albeit very slowly)
