The game card claims directx 9.0c support. That's one of the reasons I bought it when it came out, given that Wine support for dx11 is flaky at best. The game binary is hard-linked to d3d11.dll, though, so I can't turn off d3d11 support by simply disabling that library, as I do with other games. Is there a way to switch to d3d9 support (given that in-game config is not an option)? A config file setting perhaps? A web search actually indicates that ue4 doesn't support d3d9 at all, but who knows? I'd actually rather use opengl, if that's available (and ue4 does actually support this officially). Of course there are probably other issues as well preventing me from starting the game, but solving this one at least gets me one step closer to running it on Linux using Wine.
