Update: I played around with dgVoodoo, guided by the instructions on Steam and managed to eliminate the fps drop. There are some glitches but it's working better overall. When overwriting a save, the game flicks to the desktop with the overwrite prompt. There are long pauses when using Alt-tab. Best to backup the original POQ executable before messing with dgVoodoo.

The game stutters when in dialogue / opening windows with text. It is making the game frustrating to play.
Does anyone else have this issue?

I've played around with display resolution on my Win 10 computer but not found a solution yet.

The same issue is mentioned on the Steam forums but I'm reluctant to try with this being a GOG version.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I tried messing around with the GOG version on Windows 11 and I do notice a fps drop when talking to people. The only thing I modified is using the widescreen fix. Even running the game without that I get some fps drop, but not as much as it was getting at 1080p.

I get no flickering when overwriting a save however and can alt-tab without issue. However, when I zoom in the screen gets garbled up with duplicate slices of the scene overlayed on top of each other making it unplayable until I quit the game. Widescreen patch or not it does not like being zoomed in and out!

I did try playing the game on Windows 7 and it runs beautifully. No slowdown when talking to people, no zoom issues, no alt-tab issues, and yeah, works like a charm. I wonder if Wins 10 and 11 are doing something screwy?
I have noticed the same issue on windows 10. I hope there will be a patch to address it.
Good old games!

Thanks for replying
I had same issue i just fixed it: Download dgvoodoo and extract every x86 (32-bit) dll from dgvoodoo archiv to your prince of qin installation folder. THen extract the dgvoodoo executable and the other files that come with it from archiv then launch dgvoodoocpl.exe and make sure its the right game installation folder path click apply and ok (Close it) then launch poq.exe It should run like a charm it did for me and im on windows 11, every fix before that didnt work...cheers

Weeee!! Nice :D np
Gutted, not working for me at all.

Tried setting resolution with the PC Gaming Wiki fix and also using your above mentions fixes but still lagging on the chat blocks when talking to an NPC. Decided to buy the Steam version and tried with that and it's the same thing.

I'm running a Ryzen 2700X, 16 Gb DDR4 & Radeon 5600XT

Wondering if that fix only works on NVidia cards

Did you guys also use the fov/ws fix or just dgvoodoo?
Just FYI I did it with the fov fixed exe and dgvoodoo and it works. Not sure I needed both but I already had the fov fix in it.

Damn it could be im running nvidia gtx 1050 ti ;/
Heres a daft one......

So went into the DGVoodoo archive and selected the 4 files without the folder icon and said to extract to the folder, this it did....

Decided to double check after extracting fixes for another game and the files were actually in the original zipped folder not in the root directory. So a quick copy and paste into root and launched the game.

Now it is working the way it should with no stuttering!

Must be a weird Windows 11 thing with Winrar as I have done stuff like this so many times in the past!
