So I just got Warrior Within. I have the Widescreen Patcher as well. When I ran the Patcher, it does not detect POP2.exe at all, even though it's there in my folder. Thus, I cannot get any widescreen resolutions from this game even though doing it in Sands of Time was no problem. Any suggestions as to what to do?

The solution is to download a cracked POP2.exe for example from gamecopyworld and replace it with the original in your gamefolder. The patcher also sais in it's description that it needs a cracked POP2.exe. I can't say why the patcher works with the original POP.exe from Sands of Time but not with the POP2.exe from Warrior Within.

Aye. I've done that. Now it's working.

Maybe the Sands of Time exe was a cracked one?
The patcher doesn't work because the pop2.exe has been compressed with UPX (think Zip, but for executables, and it unpacks when you run it), so the offsets that need to be patched aren't available.

If you uncompress the file, the patcher will work. Downloading a cracked exe also works.

And yes, the Sands of Time exe was a cracked one (gimpsRus crack). Go Ubi!

Uncompressing it using the UPX toolkit was exactly what was needed. Thanks!

Perfect advice; thanks! Took me a bit to remember my mad DOS skills in order to decompress it, but once I did, the Widescreen Patcher utility worked great!

I don't understand i have downloaded the gog version of the game and i can't figure out how to decompress the .exe. I've extracted the .exe with 7zip but the patcher still doesn't see it. Could you help me out with the decompression?

Could you walk me through decompressing this to make the patcher recognize it?
I have downloaded upx from sourceforge but i have no clue how to use it?

I'll try - it's a little complicated and will depend on your level of experience with computers, Windows, directories, command prompts, etc.... not to scare you off, but... :)

There are many ways to do this, but this is a pretty direct method:

1. Download UPX391w.zip "executable packer" from http://upx.sourceforge.net/#downloadupx (which it sounds like you already did)
2. In Windows Explorer, Create a new folder (if it doesn't exist) on your C: as C:\Temp
3. Use a Zip utility (7-zip is fine as you mention) to unzip the UPX391w.zip package to C:\Temp
4. In Windows Explorer, go to your POP2 (Warrior Within) game directory and make a backup copy of pop2.exe
5. Copy the original pop2.exe to C:\Temp
6. Go to the Search box at the bottom of your Windows desktop and type Command Prompt and hit enter
7. In the DOS window that pops up, type cd\
8. In the same window, type CD Temp
9. In the same window, type upx -d pop2.exe
10. Close the command prompt window
11. In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Temp and Copy (or Move) the decompressed pop2.exe file back to your POP2 (Warrior Within) game directory
12. Now run the POP2 patcher and it should recognize the new exe

Hope this helps, Equinox! Let me know if you run into additional trouble with it.

Draggon
do keep in mind that playing Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Warrior Within and The Two Thrones in widescreen
uses the Vert- type widescreen.

in other words you are actually losing information rather than gaining information

in other words Hor+ means gaining information
and Vert- means losing information

My game doesn't detect the widescreen resolution I set it to which is 1920x1080.

My widescreen patcher readme file says to run upx.bat for the GOG version. There is a upx.exe but there isn't a upx.bat and running it does nothing. A window pops up in the corner, presumably the application but closes immediately and isn't even in the task manager. Sands of Time didn't have this problem and I don't think Two Thrones does as that is identical in setup to Sands of Time.
Thanks for the help Draggon. It worked! Unfortunatelly the patched version of Warrior Within and Sands of Time become "cut" in top and button after the patch using 1920x1080 witch is my default resoltion. The UI interface (Life, powers, etc) loose information that is cut in half when using this resolution. Going back to 1024x768 for example the UI come back ok.

So, although the patch do it´s work, the result is not 100% in my view as information is lost in the process. In the end, the gamer should choose what is less worse for him/her: Use the desired resoultion and loose UI information or use a low resolution and has the complete UI information.

Anyway, thanks for the help!

@Red-Shell-Robo: What is Hor+?

basically put Hor+ is short for added horizontal view

and Vert- is short for shortened vertical view

so with Vert- imagine the original 4:3 aspect ratio screen of Prince of Persia Warrior Within but then having the top and bottom of the screen being a bit cut off so that it just doesn't look stretched out however you see less of your surroundings on the top and bottom of the screen

with Hor+ imagine the original 4:3 aspect ratio screen of prince of persia warrior within but then having an extra bit of view on the left and right side of the screen allowing you to see more of your surroundings on the left and right side of your screen

Ah, thanks for the explanation!
