Has anyone else had trouble hearing dialog? I turned the music all the way down (which helped with in-game audio) but can barely hear a thing in cinematic sequences. I'm using Vista x64, and was able to play the game perfectly (after changing the affinity settings for the process on my dual core CPU) but no one has mentioned having sound problems, or having found a solution. Does anyone have any ideas? Am I going crazy???

There is a bit of an issue with audio in PoP:SoT, as I experienced both of the problems you're having. It seems like the EAX, 3D Audio Acceleration and Audio Virtualization doesn't work so well, and often drops off sounds very quickly, even though they are close to you. The trick is to actually get the camera close to the audio source rather than the Prince (this is for in-game dialogue). When things are being said, I usually zoom in as much as possible so I can hear.

Anyway the solution to this which I found, for both in-game and cut scenes, was to turn off all the fancy EAX stuff etc (these are the settings I use) as it then will pipe through your left and right speakers.
Essentially this is dependant upon what set-up you have, so 2.1, 5.1 etc. If you just have a pair of desktop speakers already, you're not going to notice much difference, but with 5.1 for example, I could make out that generally speaking the voices were a little louder and clearer once I turned off the surround sound stuff.
The last solution is, unfortunately, headphones. This makes everything pretty much audible and easy to hear.
Don't forget to go to your Control Panel in Vista, open up 'Sound' and check that you have changed your speaker setup to "Stereo" as this might also help to make the voices louder when combined with what I have described above.
Have a play around, as I don't know what hardware you have, to find the best solution within these different settings. Good luck!

Thanks Romulus! I unchecked all of the advanced audio features, and double checked my control panel settings. It's soooo much better! Cheers in the UK bro!

Any time matey, have fun with the game, its brilliant.
If you have a Creative X-Fi, did you try ALchemy with PoP:SoT? I just bought it and installed it and ALchemy automatically detected the game and set it up, so EAX/5.1 should be good to go. I'll give it a try and report back on whether it works well. If so, there'll be no need to go stereo for those with surround systems (I have a 7.1 and would rather have that over stereo if I can help it).
[Edit] It doesn't look like ALchemy (for Vista, of course) had any effect on the low voice volume in the cinematics. Not sure which way I want to go with it, losing the surround/EAX or just jacking up the volume during the cinematics to get all the voice. Too bad there aren't subtitles.

I've tried these settings and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Running Windows 7 with Stereo desktop speakers. Control panel set to full range stereo speakers. Virtualization is set to none and Hardware is set to off.
Not solved.
