So the Prince runs when I hold down up/down or left/right, but whenever I move diagonally, he just walks. He walks in the same manner when I apply light pressure to the up/down and left/right directions, but no matter how much I push diagonally, he just walks. Does anyone know what the problem is?

I have the same problem, haven't found any fix yet.
I haven't found the solution for the issue, but I did finish the game despite it. It's not really that bothersome. It only annoyed me once or twice.

The trick is to just keep the camera behind your character's back.

At least you were able to get the game to recognize the controller. How did you do that?
