Just bought Populous and during installation Im asked to accept Origin, does this mean the Origin client will be installed on my PC if I install Populous the beginning, or is it just a formality ?

The client won't be installed, and you don't need to use Origin to play the game.
Thank you Sir :)

I came here today specifically looking for information on the possibility that Origin would be imposed with the purchase of Populous 3. The game page on GoG mentions that you must accept the EULA, and the EULA mentions Origin.

Would you please expand a bit on the details about this. Why is Origin mentioned at all ~does one perhaps have to install Origin to make use of multiplayer mode?

You don't need Origin to play our games at all, not for single player, nor for multiplayer.
EULA mentions that Origin "may be required" to access some features. While this is true for more recent EA games, Origin is not required for Populous or any other GOG-published game :-)

This is EA's standard EULA. It does say that Origin _may_ be required, but since we elect not to use it, then that statement is pretty much rendered irrelevant.

This is good news. I didn't think there would be DRM on a Gog title, but it the EULA did cause me to wonder about it.
