After solving some initial startup crashes due to directx (all recommended packs were downloaded, installed, the computer was restarted), the game now fails to launch due to this error:

SWAT MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
AppName: swat.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: ddfix.dll
ModVer: 1.0.0.0 Offset: 000066cb

This is on 32bit windows xp on an intel netbook. the resolution is 1024x600. I installed the game on a desktop with a widescreen lcd and it worked no problem. Because ddfix.dll is an aftermarket widescreen support patch (correct?) I was wondering if it made the game incompatible with small screens/resolutions.. not sure what else it could be.. Ive tried messing with the resolution and compatibility settings, and searching for a way to set the resolution in registry for the game etc.. As a final note, this is the first gog.com game that has not played on this netbook. Any suggestions?
I'm getting the same issue. I've redownloaded directx and uninstalled and reinstalled everything. Still to no avail. :(
On my computer with Windows 7 64 game starts in 1280x1024 despite the fact that game runs in windowed mode which is really annoying . In XP Mode the game crashes with the same error as sparticuonfire has, probably due to lack of DirectX support in virtual machine.

As far as I remember original Swat 2 does not require DX so GOG must have modified it.

Can you (GOG folks) let us select resolution in some sort of config file? I really would like to set my monitors native resolution while playing swat in windowed mode, without distorting my screen with 5:4 resolution on 16:9 monitor.
If you're experiencing problems on netbooks or other computers with Intel graphics, download this file:
http://files.gog.com/support/SWAT2.zip

and replace your swat2.exe file with the one inside the zip file.
EDIT: fixed my problem, no compatibility used, downloaded the replacement file. The above link is broken - I checked the support page for Swat 2 and used the link there (I guess GoG's server is case-sensitive):

---

Just bought the game and I'm getting this problem on Vista 32bit, a widescreen (16:10) laptop with a ATI card.

Ironically if this was the unpatched SWAT 2 you could probably drop your resolution and have the game run. The above 'fixed file' seems to be missing. Nobody on the internet has problems with ddfix and Swat so I guess this is a GoG problem. Anyone help?

Tried all the various compatibility modes. If you go back to Win 98 it seems it doesn't try to use ddfix but it still crashes with ntdll that time.

Sorry for necrophilia, but the problem is still present and the archive you have mentioned is offline now.
