Here is how to play/Fix the game if it wont start.

1 Install the game to the location you want
for example c:\swat2

2 Go to the install folder c:\swat2 and rename the [ Movies ] folder to [ Movies1 ]

3 Copy/paste the file swat.ini and rename it as swat-backup.ini

4 Open the original file swat.ini with notepad and copy/paste and replace with this
ꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜCOPY ONLY THE TEXT BELLOWꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜꜜ

[Settings]
ImagePath=e:\swat2\Art\
AudioPath=.\;e:\swat2\Audio\;;e:\swat2\Audio\Dialog\
MapPath=e:\swat2\Maps\;e:\swat2\USERMAP\
MoviePath=e:\swat2\Movies\
MissionDir=e:\swat2\Mission\
CDROM=e:\swat2\
FullInstall=1
Usermap=e:\swat2\USERMAP\

[Game Settings]
SmallMovies=0
FullScreenEx=1
PlayedSierraFX=1
autoscroll=1
advancemov=0
charassign=1
maximized=1
scrollspeed=12
autocam=0

-----------------COPY ONLY THE TEXT ABOVE------------------------------------------

5 Now open with notepad swat-backup.ini to quick find you game install location text [c:\swat2 for example} and you need to replace all the "game location text lines" at swat.ini with yours.
For example you need o change
e:\swat2\Mission\ to c:\swat2

6 Make sure to replace the correct location because there is two folder location in one line and have .\; before the folder address
AudioPath=.\;e:\swat2\Audio\;;e:\swat2\Audio\Dialog\
here you need to replace this for example
AudioPath=.\;e:\swat2\Audio\;;e:\swat2\Audio\Dialog\
to
AudioPath=.\;c:\swat2\Audio\;;c:\swat2\Audio\Dialog\

7 Do the same for MAPCON.ini (It is the build map editor tool)

8 This will also fix the game to work with no cd and if you want to move the game to a new location just fix/ replace the new location to this two .ini files

9 If the game is laggy start a map and go to menu/options and change the speed

In case you want to keep the game after you do a windows format or if you want ti move it to a diffrent pc you need to
go to c\windows\systrem32 and you need to copy some installation .dll etc files to the root folder of the game. After that you don't need to put them again at system32 folder, the game will work fine like that.

The files you need to copy are

ActiveRDX.ocx
ActiveRDX.tlb
Dino2d.dll
dinoav.dll
dmix.dll
mfc42d.dll
msvcrtd.dll
rdxam.dll
Rdxcom.dll
rdxcom.tlb
rdxmmx.dll
rdxp5.dll
rdxvid.ax
SierraNW.dll
SNWValid.dll
SNWVALID.HLP

There is maybe less from the above list and since i already install the game i can't say for sure what exactly files are already in the game folder but anyway copy the above files you will find in the system32 to the root folder of swat 2 and the game will work fine.

-The game works great for Windows 7 and no compatibility mode tweak needed-

THIS fix does not work! The game is unplayable on ANY operating system except XP and lower! The idiots who are selling it are of no help as they meaning (GOG) are choosing to offer no help what so ever! I would demand my money back and if they refuse, threaten to sue them!

The game works fine. Check the PC Gaming Wiki. All you need to do is download the appropriate dxwrapper file and rename your movies folder. If you must see the movies either watch them from your, now renamed, movies folder or you can try using the video files re-encoded in XVID from the swat 2 moddb page, but for me they only have audio in-game.
