I read topics from older gamers in LA Noire boards namedropping Police Quest a lot. Is this series really a spiritual father of LAN ?

The same thought has been running through my mind since the release of L.A. Noire. I certainly hope Activision recognizes the opportunity to compete with Rockstar with a sequel to Police Quest. I mean, c'mon, starting a family with Marie cannot be the end of Sonny's story. He should be running the Lytton P.D. by now.

Sonny moved to LA, and switched to SWAT according to SWAT2, and was part of harbor patrol in SWAT3...

He moved to Fairview, NY in SWAT4, and was leading the SWAT forces there...

It wasn't the end of his story. The end of his story is in SWAT 2, when he got shot dead by a sniper during a drug bust.

(not a spoiler, hes just one of the many characters you can use in SWAT 2. in MY game, he got killed by an enemy sniper)
