I have read that Planescape Torment was supposed to be pretty amazing. I had never played it before so I picked it up on the summer sale and gave it a try. After about half an hour of killing zombies and picking up bandages and knives, I was starting to get bored. The dialog seemed pretty dismal and there did not seem to be much discernible plot. I am willing to give it another try if there is something more to it. But if it is little more than an undead hack'n'slash, I don't think it is my kind of game.

While there are some segments where you have to kill hordes of enemies, those segments make up only a small portion of the game.

In the starting area, you only need to kill one zombie (the one with the key).

After that, I'd recommend examining the zombies instead of attacking them.

If you're accosted by a Dustie, you can hopefully convince them to leave you alone or snap their neck and take their disguise (the latter requires dexterity of at least 13, but once disguised you won't get bothered any more).

Once you're out of the Mausoleum, you'll be able to explore a whole bunch of areas full of NPCs.

The mortuary is only the first scene. There is a whole city and many other places. The game just happened to start in the funeral parlor.

And that place is run by 1 faction, but the city has 16 different philosophical factions... and there are more locations outside the city, too. There are different races and animals and politics and everything, and its in a really wild universe. One of the most unusual games, an amazing tale, and lightyears ahead of its time.
