At my wit's end here - bought, installed, and every time I try to launch the program either from inside the GOG launcher, from the desktop shortcut, or directly from the executable file I get about 3 seconds of the "busy" cursor followed by absolutely nothing. No black screen, no errors, no visible indication that the program launched in any capacity. Tried all Windows compatibility settings, have checked Run as Administrator, etc - nothing. Any suggestions on how I can get the darn thing to load?

Try to follow the instructions on the official Beamdog site, under "Support".

Does your system have an Intel Graphics Card or Integrated Intel Graphics chip? Beamdog's engine has known compatibility issues with Intel Graphics. They are present in Planescape Torment EE. I have two computers that have Intel graphics and the game crashes on startup, but the other computers who use either NVIDIA or Radeon graphics have no issues.

Thanks - I do indeed have an Intel Graphics chip, along with an NVIDIA 960 GTM on the laptop. I set the executable to use the NVIDIA processor rather than the integrated chip in the control panel, but that doesn't seem to have helped.

1. go to ~/.local/share/Planescape Torment - Enhanced Edition
2. edit "Baldur.lua"
3. look for ..SetPrivateProfileString('Window','Full Screen','1')
4. change it to SetPrivateProfileString('Window','Full Screen','0')
5. save the edit and relaunch the game.
You should be able to enjoy the windowed game now.

I have almost the same problem, i am using windows 7, what is weird is that I downloaded the game and was able to play the game last night without a problem in full screen and everything and when I went to play the game today the game launched but it would kick me back out to the desktop but the game was still open and running on my task bar. I clicked the game on my task bar to open it but it would still kick me out back to the desktop.

try this:
1. go to ~/.local/share/Planescape Torment - Enhanced Edition
2. edit "Baldur.lua"
3. look for ..SetPrivateProfileString('Window','Full Screen','1')
4. change it to SetPrivateProfileString('Window','Full Screen','0')
