squid830: Hang on, Larian are part of the same group of companies?! Do you say this because Larian has employed some developers from one of the others, or because they are linked via corporate ownership?

It would probably explain why I thought Larian's stuff overhyped, so it's not like I was planning on buying anythings so far anyway, but still interesting to know these things.

capricorn1971ad: when i pull this up Larian is listed as well at the bottom, is he on your end as well?
https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS791US791&sxsrf=ACYBGNQeEbrpormj_1yXDmGG7aawwxJR-A%3A1581099615169&ei=X6o9Xr_vCY-u0PEPyICU0AY&q=beamdog+developers&oq=beamdog+developers&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39.6912.13441..13942...1.2..2.288.2847.24j4j1......0....1..gws-wiz.....10..0i71j0i10j0i20i263j35i362i39j0i10i67j0i67j0j0i131j0i22i30.Sn-kWqKuTTc&ved=0ahUKEwj_mqqHh8DnAhUPFzQIHUgABWoQ4dUDCAs&uact=5

notice the search term was "Beamdog Developers".

I just noticed he is a semi recent addition actually, but he is indeed part of it now.

https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/75682/was-larian-the-right-choice

might have to delete your cookies to access it if you have been treated the way they treat critical customers.

I haven't found anything special about anything he has done myself anyways, and I do own pillars of eternity.

now that he is part of beamdog he goes on my permanent ignore list as well.
Birds of a feather.. Flock together.
"Related Search" just means that there is either SOME link (however small) between Larian and Beamdog when using the search term "Beamdog developers". Since both Larian and Beamdog employ people who once worked on Baldur's Gate etc., it's not that surprising, but it also doesn't immediately mean Larian deserve Beamdog-related hate.

Also that forum link makes it pretty clear that they're not the same company at least - otherwise why would a Beamdog thread be suggesting that Beamdog would be a better choice over Larian? If anything it just reinforces how arrogant Beamdog truly are, where they think that they are more deserving of continuing the BG franchise compared to Larian.

I may not be a Larian fan (some of their design decisions aren't things I agree with), but they have achieved considerable acclaim for the original works they have produced, vs. Beamdog who have received the opposite of acclaim for the works they have modified combined with a dodgy marketing/pricing strategy and an amazingly arrogant level of disdain and disrespect for the customer.

So, while Larian and BD may both have employed one or more devs who worked on BD - at least such that a search engine algorithm has determined that Larian and BD are "related searches" - I don't think it goes any deeper than that. So I wouldn't be tarring Larian with the BD brush just yet...

They are related in anyone's mind these days, not because of any common people, similarities in their works, or market practices between them. It's just because Larian is making BG3...

I'm not sure what capricorn is on about. Beamdog and Larian are independent privately owned companies. Bioware was a privately owned independent company at the time of the BG games releases, and is currently owned by EA (a publicly traded company). Black Rock Studios doesn't have anything to do with the IE games (and doesn't exist anymore); I assume they meant Black Isle Studios (also doesn't exist anymore) which was owned by Interplay (the latter being publicly traded in NASDAQ at the time of BG1 release if I recall correctly). Black Isle and Bioware only worked together through different arrangements (licensing, dev/publisher, etc.), but they never had any ownership in common.

It's real easy, I don't wish anything to do with anyone related to beamdog in any way shape nor form, just that simple.

I won't be buying baldurs gate 3.

actually I wish GOG had filters for developers you didn't wish to see at all, all 4 of those i listed would be the first 4 i put on my filters if they did.

as easy as a feature as that would be to make we should ask for it, i have a few others i would rather not see as well, not just them.

Ever hear of 6 degrees of separation? You won't be buying anything from half the gaming industry then.

I just posted explaining that the only relation between Beamdog and Larian is that Larian is developing a new game from a saga for which Beamdog did the EEs (and nothing else... let's try to forget SoD is even a thing).

Anything done now or in the past with licensed content from TSR and WotC is off your list as well I assume? Otherwise you would be completely irrational and hypocritical about this.

Good bye
