I've played through PS:T several times and I always took lvl 7 & 12 as a Mage for the bonuses. But I was thinking: wouldn't it be better to take them as Fighter? You get unique bonuses then (potential to assign up to 5 starts to weapons) and if you take it to lvl 13, you get that extra half attack.
In the original, IIRC, those lvl 7 & 13 attacks (and the Fighter THAC0) stuck with you, even if you changed to Mage. Is this still the case in Enhanced Edition?

Thanks in advance!

I'm on my first playthrough and haven't gotten there yet but everything I have read says this is unchanged. Which means going to level 12 as fighter and then switching to mage makes you pretty good in melee combat despite being a mage.
Thanks for the replies!
