DanatGOG: yeah i didnt even bother getting the installer to make a desktop shortcut this time, as i saw mentioned somewhere that that had been a (possibly unrelated) issue for some people

specs are attatched

no joy from clearing cache, etc either

and to top it all off 4od havent put up the latest this is england 86...

thanks for the help though!
from your specs it looks like you are running the Windows drivers for your graphics card (its what Microsoft - WDDM next to the driver means) try downloading the most recent drivers from: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Also have you tried turning of UAC (User Account Control) if not you might try that as I have had problems with some apps when this is turned on. For information on how to do this go to the following website:

Thiev: It sounds like that error appears when game cannot find certain files or they became corrupted. If you installed the game on C:, why error points to F:?
I was wondering that too... that doesn't make sense.

I'm in 64-bit 7 and played Torment last night without issues, so it's possible to make it work. I right-clicked on the GOG download and picked "run as admin", then told the game to install to "C:\Planescpe Torment". Then I followed the mod guide Paul_Cz posted here, and I was off to Sigil.

Try turning off your antivirus and then install, very over-enthusiastic AV's can cause issues.
Update on my difficulties: Reinstalling my video drivers (for a second time in the last 24 hours) appears to have resolved my issues, at least in as much as I was able to start playing the game. Good luck, Danat!

but sadly, nope.

tried varying graphics quality through catalyst control center, nothing changes.

even tried modding the game as in mod guide, hoping the error might be in some way skipped over or invalidated, but also nope.

this has now become a personal battle.

but one upon which i am very open to ideas.

Wait, you're on 64-bit 7 with an ATI card? So am I, and I had no problems... so if we can find out the difference between your system and mine, we can probably find the solution. Fully updated OS? What anti-virus? Which catalyst driver?

There's got to be a way to force your computer to run Torment.
ARRGH I feel for you - that's the reason I havent been able to play Torment properly ever since I found it. Hope I don't get the same problems... *gulp*

Sorry if this is NOT helpful but I had to have a bit of a lol at the irony of the game Torment-ing you... ;)

Seriously hope you get it working bro!
I got it to work with Dazzle's thing from post #76 here: http://www.shsforums.net/topic/30840-ie-games-and-nvidia-series-8-video-cards/page__st__60__p__432892&#entry432892

Before that, I had the same problem.

So do you go to the main file of your game to do this?

It's been ages, but yes, I believe so.
