I finally finished this game after 1.5 months of playing. After the ending I was left feeling a bit...disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the story was beautiful and awesome, and it gave me a lot to think about life, but somehow I just can't get over the feeling I'm missing something. People keep raving about this being one of the best games ever made, but I disagree.

The combat was awful and boring, and plentiful. There was way too much fighting in this game and confrontations that were either impossible or really difficult to avoid (though I did merge with the final boss, thus avoiding the final fight). That plus I'm not really into AD&D systems. Even good story, great characters, well written dialogue and plentiful sidequests are not enough to create a good experience if the core action of the game is flawed (in my opinion).

So yeah, with this in mind, do you think I'm missing something? Did I concentrate on the wrong things while playing this game, preventing me from enjoying the game for it's more positive aspects? I don't know... finishing this game just felt like a chore at times.
There are actually only 2 or 3 fights that can't be avoided if you want to finish the game. You can skip all the other fights if you want.

If you want to do "everything" then some parts will be boring but it's really up to you how many side quests and grinding you want to do.

PS:T is not about action but about the story. You can add lots of action if you like though.
I guess I'd wonder what you are comparing it to.

Judging from his username and avatar he's got some high standards to compare games too ;)

I having finished this recently know how you feel, although I still loved the game, I found the combat fun too, a little frustrating at some times but the plot was just so intriguing. It's no deus ex, but it doesn't have to be - it demonstrates another way games can differ themselves from other mediums / genres, which these days is really rare.
