So I've been reading that to get the best ending I can threaten the Transcendant One with the Blade of the Immortal. I have it in my possession but even after trying ALL the dialogue options I can't find an option that will let me threaten him with it and cause him to merge with me. I'm not sure what I"m doing wrong. Do I have to identify the blade before I can use it in this encounter?

Edit: I have gone back and identified the Blade of the Immortal but the option to threaten the Transcendant One with it still won't appear.

It's possible that some of the other options to force TTO to merge with you are superseding the option to threaten him with the Blade of the Immortal. The other ways to force him to merge with you are as follows: threaten to will yourself out of existence if you have over 24 Wisdom, persuade him to merge with you if you have over 24 Charisma, and force him to merge with you if you learned your true name from the Bronze Sphere. If you meet any of these criteria it's possible that the dialogue options for these supersede the option for threatening to use the Blade of the Immortal (and all give the same ending, generally regarded as the best ending).
I wish it were that simple. None of my Stats are at 24, and I didn't learn my name from the bronze sphere; I heard I have to have a certain level of Intelligence to use the sphere, and my intelligence is below that level. Basically, I have none of the other options to merge with him.
Alright, looking into it a bit more it seems the conversation path that leads to the option to threaten him with the blade starts with asking about the ritual that Ravel used to grant you immortality. Is this conversation option offered?
I don't believe so...is there a requirement for this dialogue option to appear?
Not sure if there's a prereq for that dialogue appearing. If there is then it's probably in the dialogue choices during the conversation with Ravel.
Damn. Guess I'm probably screwed then. :P

Can't you use a editor to change the stats? I'm not sure if there is one for this game, but you could try to find.

EDIT: Found some editors in this site > http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/Torment/index_editors.php

The endings you get without fighting aren't better than the ending you get for simply killing him, the outcome is the same. Search the web videos to convince yourself if you must. Never understood why players think they have to play this way, you don't get anything better and the "do what I want or I'll kill myself" approach doesn't fit as well to a fighter or thief as fighting. If you're a mage you can simply recast friends until you have 24 cha if you want to talk, but you'll miss a challenging boss fight.

The merging option tends to be considered the best as it lets you resurrect all of your companions and have a final chat with each of them before the final cinematic.
So you have the BotI, and you can't coerce TTO? I remember the dialogue option being readily apparent. This is quite strange. You didn't give the Blade to any of your companions, did you? LOL! Is the game bugged?

It is the best ending. In fact, it's one of my favorite game endings ever. I was incredibly happy that I could beat the game without killing the final boss.

kmonster: a challenging boss fight.
Not if you choose Vhailor to get resurrected and tell him about the injustices that TTO has caused.
