I played POE some time now and i am curios what you(the other players) think about 2 Strongholdfeature that i find quite disapointing.

I.Dungeon&Prisoners
Well...i had only 2 until now and tested with save/reload but....
they seem to escape quite easly, they seem to be only usefull to trigger some smaller
Stronghold-events and the "reward" i can get for them is quite to small...esp. because i loose
all loot the prisoner had^^...why the hell should i allow a dangerous prisoner to keep his equipment^^

II.Stronghold and Resting
If i rest at the Stronghold i can only choose between minor "buffs", where renting a room at the Inn offers
much better options... and i don't need to build the Inn before i can rest there ;) or travel 2 days to reach it.
Imo it feels only like a "spare camping tools while at the endless path"-feature.
With regard to the dungeon, and prisoners, I was disappointed that the player is not able to visit the dungeon; it does not really exist. Very disappointing.

The stronghold equally disappointed on the sleeping buffs. After all, it's the safest place you have, with all of the comforts you could wish for, eventually. So why, then, do you get less benefit than sleeping in a poxy tavern? It's ludicrous.
the prison does exist and you see the prisoners there, they just don't have a whole lot to say (there is even a jailor you can talk with)

you enter it by going down the stair north of the talking statue in the keep mainhall

Really? I missed that. I assumed that was just part of the endless paths. I'll check it out.
The stronghold stinks, unfortunately. Someone did nice artwork for it, and the bounties are fun, but otherwise it is just a pointless money sink that feels very tacked on. I've also noticed that it is very buggy. I am constantly getting message notices when there is nothing there or glitches on the quests, wrong buttons popping up, etc.
Feargus Urquhart said in an interview that they are going to grow Caed Nua in the expansion [1]. I bet that the project was so huge and full with content that they couldn't make every feature massive. The dungeon disappointed me too. Mainly because there are so few people you can take prisoner. Why build it then? I only found one prisoner and this one escaped rather quick. I didn't even have the chance to visit the dungeon before my sole prisoner could escape.:D The jailor didn't even say anything about it, when I went to visit. What a jerk, he should have apologized for his failure. :P

Wow. I didn't realize prisoners could escape, didn't happen to me. Perhaps my security rating was too high by the time I got a prisoner? I did focus on improving the fortress rather quickly, by Act II I believe it was either completely rebuilt or very close.
The fact that the expansion will improve the fortress feels soooo good. Can't wait to see that happen. Even though Baldur's Gate had different "fortresses" for each character class, the amount of work put into the one in Pillars is much greater, but even then, after a couple of reruns you pretty much did everything and most of it twice at least, while in BG 2 you tested several different ones on each class; hopefully when it's updated it will be awesome rather than just pretty cool :D.

One question by the way, did anyone get the fampyr buttler? I told him to go to my fortress, he said yes, but I never saw him there. Maybe I didn't check the right place? :(.

If it is the same with the Ogre of Dyrford Village then it probably just showed up as an expensive hireling (like the ones that occasionally visit, their names are written in green letters on the hirelings page). Just one minor question, why would you want a butler that has to eat sentient beings to stay sane? Frightening thought. ;)

"James? Jaaaaaames! Where is my tea?"

Cut to James munching on a dismembered elven hand, savouring each finger with delight.

"Coming my lord! Here, your tea!"

"James..."

"Yes, my lord?"

"You still got pieces of Aloth stuck between your teeth."

James crunches.

"Sorry, my lord!" *munch*

Well actually that might be something you can use the prisoners for. Ugh...
Since when did Ogres have to eat sentients? I think you're confusing them with undead, like Icantha.

Aran_Linvail was talking about a Fampyr he told to come to the player character's stronghold, that has nothing to do with the ogre who was merely an example to showcase that those recruits for the stronghold usually end up on the hireling page...
yeah, everything except the endless paths and the quest that gives it to you is bad.
I realyl wonder how they could create so much content for it without relizing it is completly worthless and disappointing.

The endless paths is just a token dungeon crawl, with some of the best items in the game. The problem is, it does not play well at all in RTWP. The more I play this game, the more I am leaning to the conclusion that it seems to be designed more for turn based than real time, especially with the wonky engagement rule.
