Hi all. Just finished the game finally last night. Tried to do every little task and quest I could find and maxed out in level. Used a Godlike fire paladin. Just tossing up my thoughts, there were a great many good things about the game I enjoyed and a few things that bothered me.

Pros:

- Loved they used the BG music.

- The games visuals, effects and what not were amazing I thought. A nice big step up from the BG and IWD days.

- Same with the voice work, great voice acting, so many characters in the game were at level of quality to the best voice actors in BG series and IWD (IMHO) and that really got me into it.

- Mostly great companions: Eder had a great personality, loved when he tried to pet the fox. Great in combat, especially with knock down and charge. Devil of Croc was fun to use and had dialog and Hiravias was funny. I found Mahena sounded more like a wholesome mom than a tough barbarian but if I do another play through I'll try her out more.

On the cons:

- I found wizard spells were a bit weak compared to druid ones. They didn't seem to give much impact till you got the higher ones. The traps I think should have been better to since you can only plant one.

- Load times. Waiting a minute or two to do a first load up was a drag. I guess its just the engine though.

- Freezing. Happened frequently and all the problem solving tips I tried in the end didn't seem to solve the issue. Sometimes the game would freeze 3 or 4 times or more in a boss fight and for about 10 seconds at a time.

- For me the story. I got into it a little bit more as I got the last bits of information in the final acts. The whole souls thing felt like something out of Battlestar Galactica or something. Didn't feel invested in it, but I'm sure many were and that's great to.

Quirks & tidbits:
The druid build is fun, maybe a bit OP even. The monk with the drug problem was pretty funny. Game turning off Fast Mode every time you load up your game was a bit annoying.

Overall I'm glad after leaving the game half way through that I came back to finish it. Despite the lack of real healing in the game I learned to get decent at restoring endurance and it panned out pretty well. I'd love IWD or BG2 with the best of both of these games. Probably never happen though.

Hi,

This one is bizzarre. I had the tragedy of losing my ring gaming engine and I had been playing this game with Dell laptops (bought at 2014 and 2018 and Intel graphics on both cases) without this drastic performance drop. Once I was on middle of the big battles the performance dropped but not to the point of the game being unplayable. It's sad that you didn't found a definitive fix to your issues :(

Wizards on this game are played different than BG saga. They are focused more over crow control than elemental damage (or at least that is what I do with Aloth :P ).
Anyway, if you plan to get your own druid next game. Get Hiravias, two druids (or two wizards or clerics) are a disaster for your enemies !
