Hello everyone. Pillars of Eternity 1 has a legacy mode that is available on Steam, and apparently on GOG also. I only own the game on Steam at this moment, so perhaps someone who has the GOG version would be willing to clarify the following for me:

- How is the legacy build made available to GOG users? Are there additional offline installers, one for the most current build and another for the legacy one, or is it an option that must be selected from Galaxy?
One could repackage the Galaxy download oneself I suppose, but I would prefer to avoid it entirely whilst also having the legacy build available.
I think this would be useful information to know for those wishing to purchase the game who have slightly older computers. Thanks.

I wasn't aware of a legacy mode? What would that mode entail? I tried to google but found nothing :( If it makes CPUs less prone to become small hell outposts, then I'm in haha.

Some changes were made that improved the compatibility and performance on more modern operating systems and hardware, such as updating the Unity and DX versions to 2019.4.11 and DX11 respectively, and making the cut-scenes display better in 4k. But at the same time this had the unfortunate side-effect of reduced functionality on older machines, as well as incompatible save files between the new and older versions. Thus, a legacy branch was made available (patch 3.7.0.1318). On Steam, it's a beta that a user can opt into.
