I just got the game, and my macbook pro (though aged) still meets all of the recommended system requirements (except graphics card, which is slightly below the minimum) but I'm completely unable to launch the game. Whenever I click on the application, the icon appears in the dock as if it's launching, but the "Verifying Pillars of Eternity" notification pops up and never finishes. Can anyone help? Like I said, my gfx card is subpar, but that shouldn't keep me from just booting up the game, should it? Am I just stuck until I get a new laptop? (I'm not going to waste money upgrading this one since it's 6 years old and showing signs of age) Basically, is this a fixable software bug or am I going to have to spend $1400 on a new laptop?

I'm having this exact same problem. Did you ever find a solution?

In response to my own question, I found a solution here: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/210642/pkg-for-installer-hangs-on-verify

That first (accepted) answer did the trick.
