So I've got this and the description sounds cool, but no bonuses and you can't enchant items from that slot.
I've had it on my main character in the hopes it starts a cool quest line or something, but I'm at the bay city and nothing so far.

Does it actually do anything for me, like I'm hoping or is it just a bit of flavour text at the start of the game?
If it does something, where do I go to make use of it?

That is one of your Kickstarter Backer bonus items. The other one is the Obsidian Wurm pet. Both are strictly cosmetic, afaik.

Are all pets cosmetic, as well? I expected that dog I picked up to trigger some conversation somewhere, since he was already mentioned in some convo. Nothing yet.

That I have no idea about. I am pretty sure no pets are going to affect combat, but I am uncertain about dialogue options. The dog you speak of seems like it could possibly be quest/dialogue hook, for instance, but I really have no idea without looking for spoilers (which I am trying to avoid).

It's been on since I started the game. Where is the kickstarter graveyard?
So far I've found one guarded by a few undead on the way to the nutball lord's keep; I've also found more of those epitaph things all over the keep basement.

As spoilers go, this one is relatively minor: Gilded Vale, in the (appropriately named) Black Hound Inn, on the second floor. Pasca even mentions the dog in dialogue, if you ask the right questions.

This comes from memory so I might be wrong regarding the location, but I think there's also a merchant in Defiance Bay who can sell you a golden lab, if you're into doggies.

Whereas cat persons can find one in a certain manor. And finally, there's an upgrade you can build in your stronghold that supposedly brings in a character who deals in exotic things, including different pets (but I haven't build that particular upgrade yet myself so I'm not sure of his inventory)

Yeah that fighter from the first village.
He also talks with the ranger chic, looking for her village elder, about her fox. :-D

The Obsidian Order is a "fictional" group formed by some backers during the kickstarter campaign. Each member that pledged an additional 8$ (iirc), independently from the pledge tier, could ask to be part of the Order.

Thanks for the definitive answer.
Pitty though, I remember the golden panatloons, etc from Baldur's Gate + #2 + #2 Expansion and thought maybe it'd be something I could use long term.
