i seem to have a problem with food, im making tons of the stuff but the delivery guys absolutely refuse to drop it off at any granary even though the granaries themselves are devoid of ANY food and they all have paths to the granaries so im at a loss as to why they aren't dropping it off!

Firstly: does your Granary have workers? I believe the Granary requires a full supply of workers or delivery men will not deliver their goods to them at all. This can be solved by not building excessive industries at the start of the mission and building only what you need to get the city going for either early requests or other events that may happen early.

Secondly: have you set any food orders on the Granary? If you've set the Granary to accept no food or only to accept a different food type, then the food type you want to be delivered will not be accepted by the Granary.

Thirdly: how have you connected your Granary? If you've got two road tiles touching the Granary, but each section of road is not connected, then your delivery cart men will not deliver food to the Granary because the tile it wants is not reachable.

Build a store house next to your granaries. Those in the fields will wait until there is an opening in the Granaries before they leave the fields---- sometimes they sit in the fields a long time. Build a storehouse next the granary and set to accept the food stuff. All field workers immediately try to fill up the storehouse. (Later in the game, if you over produce food stuff or your gods keep things so filled that your producers are almost unnecessary, then workers my not even harvest the crop. But that is much later in the game.)
I build a storehouse for my main food only (e.g. wheat) and a second one for secondary foods if required. Set the Granary to "get" the food and your granary should keep working.

This advice is sound as well. This may not help if your Granary has no workers though...

yes all four of my granaries have a full compliment of workers and i also have 4 storage yards that also have max workers its just that the straw from the grain farms goes straight to either the brickwork's or the cattle ranches and then to the storage yards and the guys that have the carts full of meat, fish, gran AND chickpeas just sit there complaining that they can't off-load the food. all my granaries have a path all the way around each one in case i have to expand my food production to feed more people. my granaries are also set to accept all types of food....but there is one guy carrying 800 units of chickpeas and he's standing right next to an empty granary but he's still complaining.
is this the map with all the ferry boats between three- four land masses on which you need to build? If so, set infrastructure to one so that the ferries are always operational. Second, keep the distance between the warehouses with straw and the cattle farms close. They are a pain.
Did you figure it out? I'm curious on what the problem was.

It sounds like your delivery men don't have an operational route to an empty Granary. Straw is not a food stuff and is a raw material, so doesn't count. It also sounds like you might have set orders on the Granary not to accept food, or the game has assigned a delivery man from a distant field to deposit his goods in that granary, but can't reach it.

I believe you are referring to the mission called On. It certainly sounds like that mission, but it could still be one of the many other missions. If my memory is correct, Chickpeas aren't available there, only Grain can be farmed (along with Flax). Chickpeas is a rare food type available to be grown (even if it can be imported a lot), so it narrows down the mission choices: another possibility is Sawu (Mersa Gawasis), but I doubt that from the other food types available.

my problem isn't distance as the granaries are within a 10 tile radius of the farms and the storage yards are a 20 tiles away but it now its gone from not dropping off at all to just sitting there for about 5-10 mins before one of them will move and then the rest follow 10 mins after that one guy has moved. all my buildings are on one side of a river so it cant be a pathing issue. this problem is annoying me on the custom maps so id thought id see if the problem would occur during the campaign missions and yep it does! they just sit there complaining when there are clear routes to the granaries....think it could be a bug?

If you are able to do so, please record a 30 second video and upload it to YouTube (unlisted) and link it here. We might be able to assist better by seeing a video of what is happening. In your video, if possible, try to describe the problem so we can get a better understanding as well. Thanks!
Also, if you could wipe out a granary and storehouse. When you rebuild empty ones, maybe who goes to the new granary and storehouse first will give you a clue on where the instructions are coming from that are delaying delivery (if that is the problem).

edit by me for clarity

i don't have any way of recording at this time but macAilpin's suggestion seems to have fixed it for now, i think they were trying to find a path that wasn't there.
How about uploading a save game? I'd guess we can find the problem pronto.

im pretty sure it was a pathing issue, as one of the suggestions did fix it once i had demolished the granaries and rebuilt them.
Just so you know, this is pretty common if your granary/sy cart guys are going "too far", or you have marginal access to labor.

You might have noticed that while the cart pusher is out, no labor seekers are spawned? Kind of like the damage columns in reverse -- the labor seekers have to be sent out periodically to push the column back up. If the column drops to 0 before the cart guys get to where they are picking up or dropping off, they will not be able to respawn for the return trip, and you are left with a "useless" granary.
