So I was hoping I could get some advice for this game.

1. Unemployment. What's the easiest way to help reduce this?
2. Should you start out with just a small patch of houses and work those out for a period of time? Or do you expand faster than that?
3. When it comes to Granaries, how many do you put in the beginging? Just one
4. Same question for Potters, Clay Pits, etc. What's a good number to start with?
5. My houses kept saying they needed pottery to be delivered to expand farther, but I had a lot of it stored. Plus my Bazaars never seemed to expand their inventory. That may be just because I suck at layout

I'm sure there's more and I hople this doesn't come off as irratating I was just hoping for some advice.
I never actually played this game as a kid and just found it last week. It filled a spot of interest for me that SimCity failed to do. I love city building types of games but always wasn't very good at them.

What are my food sources.

I always have my first residential block platted but not fully housed. I add homes as they are needed by the Industry that will finance my City and as well as food production. Once I have a good industry up and running and feel I'm bringing in enough food, then the game turns to defense, upper class goods and building the Pyramids and alike. I may need a second City block by this time. But again, I will wait on homes until it's clear I need more workers. As the Population ages, you may need third and fourth residential areas. The Monuments can take a long time.

Granaries. I have a Granary near the housing and a warehouse next to the Granary. Food supplies won't go to a Granary if they see it is full--- which can happen easily at harvest time. But they will usually head to a warehouse if it has room. This will get your workers off the flood plain before it floods. Set the Granary "To get" whatever is the food, and the Granary will remain full.
Larger Cities will require Additional Granaries. I'm not sure how other handle it. But I use warehouses to get food next to my granaries.

Keep one warehouse near what ever you are making. Say pots. Then have other warehouses near housing and set those secondary warehouses to "Get Pottery" which should keep the Pottery supply near the houses. Oversupply helps. Also, your warehouses can have multiple items. But if the warehouse has to deliver goods--- say Clay as well as Iron (for weapons)-- then you will loose production time. So items that are picked-up aren't a problem. But your warehouse should have only one item that needs to to be moved around. (Also, Bazaars can be limited in the items they buy. Right Click. Make sure the Item is checked as "purchase." When I build a bazaar, I automatically uncheck all items but food. That way, I can keep down population by have inferior housing. But increase population by adding goods to the menu.)

If Gold is important for $, then make sure they don't have far to go for the Palace where it is delivered. Iron is sometimes distant from your harbor. keep a warehouse near the mines and another near the ports and set for "get Iron." Sometimes the caravans will go to the mine site. But if you keep their routes shorter, you will sell more.
