Hi everybody,
I wanted to prepare my own "ready to play"-pack of Phantasmagoria, so I took my good own old copy out of the shelf, made some proper Isos out of the discs and installed the game under dosbox (taewoongs custom build) to work with a MIDI-Soundfont (with VirtualMIDISynth). As I start the game, everything works fine, but from time to time, the whole sound stops and voices, environment and music isn't there anymore. Sometimes it works again, if I leave a location and re-enter it again. I already copied the files from phantpat (patch 1.1) into the main folder, as I've read that that patch should solve these problems. It's really annoying if you are in the middle of a dialogue and suddenly all gets silent... the problem isn't limited to the MIDI-configuration - it's the same with MT-32 emulation and even with the good old SB.
Does anybody have a clue for me here? And is this problem solved on the GOG-version?

Pretty sure the GOG version is patched...however, from time to time you may get the occasional sound problem just as you describe. I notice it in all of sierra's FMV games (except, when it happens in Gabriel Knight 2 the game locks up!), and IIRC, even when I bought these games originally I had similar problems. So far though in P1, I've only noticed it once and as I use dosbox svn-daum and dosbox_x64.exe, I'm still experimenting with various memory & cpu settings to see if I can find *the* stable config...;) If I find 'em I'll post the file here, of course.
