Hi there,

This is my first post to this website. I played Phantasmgoria 1 many years ago on a Macintosh and have been wainting to play it again. In searching the Internet I found this site. Before I choose to purchase and download the game, I have a question.

I am currently using a newish HP computer running Windows 7. I long ago sold my Macintosh. The site lists the compatabilty for this game as XP, Windows 7, 8, etc. I know this is a very old DOS game and my question is, how is this game compatible with newer Windows versions? Do the creators of this website update the games to make them compatible with newer OS versions? And is there a guarantee that the game will work with Windows 7 if I choose to buy it? I looked around at the FAQs, but I could not find a answer for this question.

Thanks,
Karen

I've played the GOG edition of Phantasmagoria 1 on Windows 7 64-Bit without any problems, as well a friend of mine. Perhaps you have to make a little change in the DOSBox.conf to improve sound, but this is not a big thing.

Thank you for your reply. Windows 7 - 64 Bit is exactly what I have. I am not familiar with DosBox. From what you said, I guess it's automatically part of Windows 7?

Since you have played GOG's version with no issues, I will consider downloading it. :)

No, DOSBox is 3rd party software, but the GOG edition of Phantasmagoria comes pre-packaged with it. This applies to most DOS games sold here.
@ Karen I played on my HP Win 7 64 bit without any hiccups. It ran great...no problems. I just finished playing this game and absolutely LOVED it. A great story, well told and a fantastic ending...now one of my favs.
