Well it's not that important but I remember that both games had shown the current score and the maximum for the current chapter in the bar at the top of the screen (like most of Sierra's Adventures like Police Quest or Space Quest or King's Quest).

Those are missing in the GOG Version, or is my memory at fault? Maybe it was only included in the Windows Version (which I mostly installed but I'm pretty sure I also tried out the DOS Install back then).

I think you remember wrongly, I've played the windowsversion with the 7 cd's about a million times (at least 30 successful playthroughs) and there has never been scorepoints in Phantasmagoria to my knowledge.
I remember playing GK2 as well during the same period, I always wondered about why GK2 had score when there was no scoreboard or contest of highscore anywhere. Kept thinking They could've done it like Phantasmagoria instead.

Phantasmagoria 2 *might* have had scorepoints, but I've only played it once of twice, so can't really remember.

It's been a while since I played but the first one might have a chapter progression bar like King's Quest 7 had, in the save menu. But I'm not sure. They were made by Roberta Williams about the same time, and share very similar interfaces.

There is indeed a progress bar in the save options. More like a place to put your bookmark than a scoresystem, as the predictabillity of how much you have left to do in a chapter varies quite a bit between the chapters.
