same as above. patches don't work and can't find such lines in hex editor.

did they change something?

I made a little Java program to patch GOG's latest (as of this writing) Patrician 3 to use different resolutions. It seems to work fine for me. I'd love to hear some feedback from others. Instructions, program, and source code can be downloaded from my P3WideScreen repository on GitHub, which unfortunately I cannot post a link to: github.com/dsedivec/P3WideScreen

I'll give it a try. I've successfully used the instructions posted earlier in this thread, but a simpler solution to this problem would certainly be nice.

So I assume the changes affect only the 1280x1024 resolution setting?
The thing is I have 1366x768 screen and would like to play with widescreen, but the game does not allow me to select the 1280x1024 resolution and therefore I get no resolution changes that the patch makes.
Yes I'm sure I run the patch properly, and yes everything was successful there.

Could you make it so the patch would work when 1024x768 is selected?

You are correct, it only changes the 1280x1024 setting. I am surprised to hear that the game will not let you select 1280x1024, even after using my patcher to change it to 1366x768. My first guess is that means the game must have another place that I have left unpatched which checks if your display is at least 1024 pixels wide.

I can certainly add the option to change the 1024x768 resolution instead. I'll put it on my to-do list and post here when I've made the changes. It could be a while until I can get to this, though, sorry.

That would be great. I'm probably not the only one around here with such a "small" screen.

Hey, dsedivec,

I just wanted to say sorry for not testing your res thing yet. I have been planning to do it but I've been busy/distracted.

Don't give up!
Worked on win7 64bit ultimate. thanks for the res mod; so fine on my 4k monitor :D

Hey, I know that this might be a bit much, but I haven't been able to do it myself: Can this be made to work for Patrician 2? It is supposedly very similar to Pat 3, and suffers from the same resolution problems. I tried hex editing it, and despite having almost the same hex, it didn't work, probably because the other files to be edited aren't there. That said, if you can help, please do.

Many thanks for this... got it working with no fuss at 1920x1200

Hi;
First of all thank you so much for the patch!
I read that you also tested it briefly on OS X.
Since I'm trying to run the game on a Mac, can I ask you:
HOW DID YOU DO IT?

Please, help me!!

This worked for me. Just go to the link and follow the instructions.

I got to say Patrician 2 is much more enjoyable in 1920x1080.

Thank you very much to dsedivec and others
