I downloaded Kingmaker when it was released and watched the opening sequence. I got as far as character generation and then stopped, because my wife and I intend to play together.

I saw that there was DLC for "bloody mess." I downloaded "Bloody Mess," and then I decided to watch the opening sequence again. Now, this is what happens:

I see the logos for the companies who produced it.
I see the Kingmaker logo and the loading progress bar, which progresses to full.
When the progress bar is full, it disappears.
The logo stays on the screen and the title music plays...forever. It never does anything else.

It's a cool logo, but I was hopeful that there was a game, too. Is this a known issue? I'm not familiar with Gog; I'm a Pathfinder fan with fond memories of the old Gold Box days...way before modern games. I'm on Windows 10 and the icon I click on to get to the game says Gog Galaxy.

Help?
As a follow up, it is possible that I'm missing the latest patch. I've got all checkboxes checked, but I don't see anything that specifically says, "Patch" on the Kingmaker page, or any page that is associated with Kingmaker.

I tried to find some information on where GOG houses patches, but all I could find is someone saying, "The patch is exactly where patches are supposed to be, so go and download it," which was pretty much the opposite of helpful.

Is the patch something I need to download manually? If so, even though my game was working properly before I downloaded Bloody Mess, that's something I should get my hands on.

I appreciate any help - I've downloaded a few games from GOG in the past (and bought more than a few), but I've never had a problem with one before, and I'm finding the site to be something of a labyrinth.

You're using Galaxy, so provided you have the client set to auto update you don't need to do anything. I suggest you close Galaxy, reboot your computer, start Galaxy again and then verify/repair your game.
Are you not using Galaxy?

If not, then I recommend uninstalling, downloading the latest installer, and starting over.

He was also talking about manual patches, though. I'm not a galaxy user (since I tried it when it came out). When does it do a game update? Is it about the time in the launch process that he says it is freezing?
Thank you both!

I am using Gog Galaxy, and I found a couple things. First, I located the manual patches, but then I also located the spot in Gog Galaxy that confirms that my version of the game has already been updated. So, it looks like Gog Galaxy took care of the patching without ever saying anything about to me?

I've rebooted my computer, and it still does the same thing. Logo, status bar, and then when the status bar is complete, it just stays on the logo screen and keeps recycling the theme music.

It's maddening, especially since it worked before. I guess my next step has to be uninstalling and reinstalling--I just don't have the time for things like that. I mainly just wanted to see what character generation looked like, and how the character classes were handled...

In Galaxy, there's a way to verify your files. I recommend that you do this, before you uninstall/reinstall.
